Young gun's 94 build thread

Finally decided to start a build thread.

Here is the truck

Here is where I'm at

Refreshed my transmission and upped the clutch count from 4 to 6 in the direct pack and 4 to 5 in the forward pack.

The ht80 next to a s400

I'm sending the housings to keating to get some little tricks done to them, and as far as a parts list this is what I've come up with so far.

215 pump
No plate
4kgsk
Wills (big blue24) completionDV's
5x.022 injectors
Helix 2 cam
S469 w/ tight housing
60lb valve springs
26* timing

Future goodies list, and of you have some better ideas I'm all ears.

Hd pushrods
Dual valve springs
13mm pump
Belt driven supply pump
P pumped 6.7 with a 12 valve head
Billet timing cover
Adjustable timing gear
Billet tappet cover

Of course some of those will be a little farther out due to time and money, but I'm looking to get the 6.7 this summer, hopefully I can keep this thread updated and interesting!

Thanks for looking!

Looks like its going to be fun build! The HT80 looks massive, what are the specs on it? Do you think 4k's going to be enough to get full use out of it? What's the truck going be used for.. DD/drag?

89/137comp and the turbine is just large by huge in a 35cm housing, my 4k's pull out to 4500, but some 5's are probably in order.

I'm going to try and do everything with it, tow, drag, sled pull, daily drive. Right now the plan is to try it out with the s469 and see how it does. I may drop to a small s300 in the future.

What is Keating doing to the housings, and are you going to run the HT80 at all?

Well I think you have air covered lmao. Thinking a 13mm pump should find its way to this truck sooner than later if you want to use all of that. Just a wild guess on my part as I have no concept of that much air.

He cuts the 6" outlet on the turbine housing down to 5" and threads the compressor outlet for a screw in v band flange. Basically makes this turbo a bit easier to setup for twins.

Yes I'm going use it for sure. It was big and cheap!

I need a higher stall....lol

Your guess is as good as mine! This is all new to me. I like big singles, but I'm tired of beating around the 550-600hp bush.

Hot pipe supplies, 3" sch40 is probably heavy enough! It will probably hold the heat in pretty good before wrapping it.

So I've been running this 69 for a while as a single after I rebuilt it, and WOW does it rip with my old 5x.022 injectors!!!. I was complaining that it only builds 45psi, but good hell it rips at 45psi!

New problem, I get a nice coat of motor oil from the blow by tube when I pass 4500rpm :/

Keeps it from rusting haha.. thats what i tell everyone about the leak in my transfercase.

Does the 69 clean up the smoke fairly well? what housing is it? the .85?

It doesn't come close to cleaning up! Since this 215 is retarding the timing I'm essentially sitting at 15* full throttle with 4* retard from 19 (been lazy on the timing) so I'm going to try a plate to see if it brings me out of the timing retard.

Yeah it's a .85 or so. Really helps at altitude, driving this turbo is pretty fun.

As a side note on the timing retard. I can see it happen on the boost gauge, It builds boost to 40psi fast while rolling into it, then when I feel like I can mash the throttle it snaps to 45 then backs down to 40-38 util I shift overdrive.

Just thought it was cool I could see the timing effecting boost like that.

I ran 26* with that charger, which I calculated to be 22* in the cylinder after pop off pressure, amd retard notches etc... I had 7x.015s with .020 lift and .015 bore from Chris and ran that charger at 55-60psi at WOT. I loved that charger.

My cast s468 does pretty good for a charger i paid $650 for. I have a 88mm garrett that i thought about runnig with the 468 in the future, it would be just slightly smaller then your setup. Curious to see your setup finished!

Btw, add some timing, it will really help with power in the higher rpms( i run 27*)

You worried about splitting that 6.7 block with compounds?

Should flat out rip though when they are lit.
