Edge Juice Platinum to SCT

Basicly I need to know if there is any difference in SAFETY features of the two. What will I get with the SCT that you don't see in the Edge. The platinum has all kinds of features but my biggest concern is the transmission slippage and shifting. I need some real world comps on these two.

I already have the first generation edge and either want to upgrade to the platinum or the entire programmer.

What do I need with the SCT? Is it just the livewire or is there a "box" so to say like the edge has??

I am looking at the expense. Will it be worth it or cost me more to switch the whole system over to SCT?

im not sure waht truck you ahve but i had an SCT looney tune stacked with Edge juice w/ attitude on my 05 dually. it did great and trans never slipped even after the countless burn outs and 4x4 launches. only time i ahd an issue was when i topped it out around 4400rpm's and blew the oil cooler and dropped #8 injector but that was my fault for pushing it way too hard

Do the SCT, and never look back. DO a search on SCT here, and their is enough to say about it that you will never think about the edge again. Safety feature wise, what do you want? The only feature I know on the edge is the defuel for egt's, but believe me, EGT's of 1500 + daily in short burst are not an issue. Towing, slip in a tow tune, and you don't have to worry about it. Oh yeah, and you'll still have a tranny in 50K miles of HARD driving.

Well I am most concerned with the transmission. It seems like all the research I have been doing for comps that the SCT is the best way to go. I have been hemming and hawing about if for some time now but wanted to know what was needed to up and running with the SCT.

It looks like the SCT live wire is all I need with a couple of custom tunes. This was my concern with price. The edge would cost me less but the advantages just aren't there in regards to how much less it would cost me. for 560.00 I can get the SCT with out tunes and it would cost me that to change to the edge platinum and no downloading.

anybody want an edge juice programmer????

$560.00 seems a little high for an SCT. Contact any of the vendors here. I am sure they are not that expensive. I now pices have changed since I bought mine but I paid $400 2 years ago for my Xcal.

I'll take your edge. I lost one of my wheel chocks.

I'm at 105450 miles. And ask anyone if I have never attempted to just beat the living **** out of this truck. And I think it may have even tried to kill me for a while. When it killed the turbo pipes, I actually think it was trying to poison me with carbon monoxide. Oh well. The inside of the block was being lubricated with engine oil for a short while only because of my own abuse and love of seeing how high I can get the GPS in the Avic Z1 up to. New Oil cooler and back to beating on it.

He said 560 for livewire. Xcal2 was killed off and now Xcal3 for 450 with custom files is what you are looking at.

It was saying 475. I changed it to 450. The extra 25 was for me to deal with the bull**** of the drivers and other things the xcal3 would randomly screw up.

I need to start paying attention to my phone more while at the shop. Its just hard to hear it over the compressor and plasma cutter and stuff.

That can be a nice problem to have. 450 is for the Xcal3 right? with Tunes? Or is it + 50 for two custom tunes?

So whats the way to go then. The XCal 3 or livewire? I don't have gauges so that's why I was going with the Livewire.

Is one better than the other?

Performance wise they are identical, as they load a tune into your PCM. I hear the live wire is bulky, not well thought out, and have not heard anyone say they were happy with it.

the dealer will always have one ready to put in when yours goes out!

oh yah, out of our fleet of 6.0's, NONE have had tranny problems (miles as high as 250k)

interesting stuff coming from the dodge guy. Good stuff but the dealer won't always have one ready to swap out with your broken one.
