2003 popping/backfire sounds under heavy acceleration

I made a trip from Houston to California hauling 16k.. 10 miles from my destination. My truck started popping really bad around 1800+ rpms

No I don’t have anyway to check it out here?. Any idea what could cause this? Could it be a bad relief valve? Or bad cp3 ?

Could be lift pump, fuel filter, CP3, or the rail relief valve. Easiest thing to check first is the lift pump. Either way, it is something causing a drop in rail pressure. I will say, it is very seldom a bad CP3.

Not difficult at all to unplug the modules and leave wiring all in place. We've removed the entire harness on dads truck a few times to diagnose different issues. That is a more difficult process.
