Brake controller blows fuse

NOT A DIESEL PRO
Hi everyone. I searched a little but didn't find a related thread.

in my 97 12v my brake controller (brand new) blows the brake light fuse when the brake pedal is pushed. It is wired in correctly. Only 4 wires and yes I'm using the factory dodge plug. I tried another brake controller and it still blows the fuse.

If I disconnect the brake controller I have no issues even when a trailer plug is connected.

Any ideas suggestions rude comments?

Would like to add that the brake controller used to work fine

thank you

Something is backfeeding ground into the brake circuit. When you depress the brake pedal the circuit is made and blows the fuse. Look for a pinched or rubbing wire in the brake circuit would be my suggestion/guess. Either this or an undersized fuse?

Sounds like the brake wire is grounded, you could hook the truck up to another trailer to verify.
