Lift pump is a cheap fix. Buy a lift pump from the Cummins dealer before you buy a parts house brand or a carter.

I disagree.
Change your fuel filter before replacing the pump. Mine does that when the filter gets dirty.
I replaced my pump at @ 125K miles on someones recommendation for the tapping. It happened again @ 10K later. I was due a filter change anyway so after changing it, no more tapping. Still does it and that pump now has almost 400K miles on it.

It's a cheap easy fix, better than an internal engine tick.

OK. A bad tank of fuel will clog a filter.

This makes SENSE!
You and Scott both think the correct way on this one.
Mark.

I run a Wix 33391. It doesn't have the WIF sensor or drain valve in it. They're @ $15.00.

I put a $80 Carter lift pump on mine after upgrading the entire lift/return circuits didn't stop the ticking. That was 92,000 miles ago.
