Wastegate for new compound build

So I'm building a fresh new set if compound for my 12v, race truck. Don't have alot of experience with gates, no experience with external spring gates. New compound set is a S467.7 over S488, looking for a manifold gate but not finding a whole lot of information on determining gate size bases on this configuration.

44, 45, 46mm?

I'm running a 467.7/83/1.10 over a ball bearing s485. I went t4 manifold and the bigger 1.10 housing and so far the boost to drive doesn't seem to out of line. I've only made a couple passes with it so I can't give exact numbers yet, but seemed about 115psi with about 135 drive pressure. What housing are you running on the 467?

Yes 12v, it's also a 13mm pump. I had the pump set at 550cc's and smallish delivery valves to just get some baseline runs. Ran a 10.16 set that way. I started off with the 1.10 housing to keep the drive pressure down as much as I could. If your running a 12mm pump I think you'll be fine running the .90 with no gate, unless you had plans to spray it then you'd prob need to gate. Run it and see how it does.

If my drive pressure gets out of hand I was gonna go to a 87 turbine.

I'll be running a 13mm pump also. The 467.7 that I purchased, came with the .9 ar, and Iv just planned on running an external gate for the added tunability. I don't have a problem changing exhaust housings if needed

I had a s366 over 480 before with a 50mm gate going into the hotpipe. It seemed I was constantly chasing the gate setting, never new exactly when it was opening and when I felt it was in the ballpark it didn't seem to stay there. I'm wanting to keep things simple, I'll keep going up in turbine as I run the truck harder.

Wastegate sizing confuses the hell out of me, as it seems there's to definitive answer, and everyone's running a different size gate. A 50mm on a s366/s480 is actually the largest gate I've personally heard of for such a setup, seems most people with similar setups are running 45/46mm. Also interested in sizing for an atmosphere gate for the big guy. Really like the idea of the boost controllers. I'm all about "simple " in my street truck, but for a completely mechanical race truck, I'll take all the tunability I can get

Personally I would go with the larger gate and adjust it to where you need it, using a bleeder valve (boost control), springs, or whatever. That way you won't be too small and have more adjustability.

why not install the turbos without a gate but weld the port for one on now. if you have no drive pressure issues than there is no need for one. without knowing your trucks actual needs everything is a guess.

I do not see the need for a gate in this planned setup. The turbine is large enough with the right housing drive should not be an issue. It is going to lag even with a .90 on the manifold charger.

Mine spools rediculesly quick with the 1.10 housing. Again ever sense I went with a 13mm pump it spools everything easy I've tried.

I have a 67.7 with a .90 housing paired with a 484, 12mm maxed pump and it spools surprisingly fast. I have a steed manifold with a gate port but got tired of messing with setting the wastegate. Going to be switching to a 1.10 housing on the 467.7 this winter.
