I don’t know if anyone in the puller world has logged something higher, I’ve heard of 7600rpm before, but never, ever anything over 8000rpm

I don't know about records but before we saw the logs we figured 7k, maybe 7,500 rpm.... I guess that wicked fast injection rate on the Farrell 16mm is enough to hit 8k at just 35* static timing!

Glad that Todd was not harmed. Thanks for all the videos on your channel !

I have a similar setup using the same BD positive air shutoff and the BD turbo guard (BOV).I removed the solenoid from the air shutoff and have a cable. Also I put a micro switch on the air shutoff that activates the BOV to dump boost only when the air shutoff is pulled.

Figured I'd rely on the cable for shutoff and then if the BOV solenoid sticks or fails to operate that it would mabye just wreck turbos, piping or intercooler.

When a dinosaur does die, it breaks the internet along with the entire truck.

Sheesh. Every time I go back and look and watch, I am in awe.

There's a ton of pressurized volume trapped between the inlets of the triples and the miles of tubing and 2 water/air coolers. We were a little concerned with how well a pair of guillotines would work on the inlets, real estate is tight in that part of the drag truck, and synchronizing 2 shutoffs sounded complicated. For simplicity, it seemed prudent to incorporate a single air shut-off as close to the intake as possible on the side of the engine with lots of free space along with a blow off valve to protect the 15k worth of GTX55 turbos. The shutoff has been used several times with successful immediate engine shutdowns and zero damage to the turbos, or engine, or injection pump.

This was a freak failure at precisely the wrong time (throttle stuck/rack hung) and unfortunately it cost us the entire engine setup and some of the truck body.windshield. Fortunately for us, no one was injured!

Man, I was glad to hear Will was alright after seeing the pics of the truck! I'm sure that was no fun. I've had them run away hooked to a sled and it's no fun but no where near what he went through!

Are you guys going to build the same platform again? Hopefully the IP survived but it looked like the housing took some bad beatings.

At least you werent hurt, and you two seem to have a pretty darn good attitude about what happened. Lessons learned. You'll come back stronger b/c of this.
