Upgrade to a 96mm wheel

Not sure if this is the right forum or not, so I apologize if it isn’t and please point me in the right direction. Here’s my question, I’ve got a Borg s475/83 t4 turbo right now and I’d like to know if it’s possible to machine it to accept a 96mm turbine wheel and remain a t4? Could my current 83mm turbine housing be machined to accept the new wheel (it’s a 1.25). And lastly would I be able to use a 96mm shaft and wheel assembly from a Borg t6 turbo? Thanks in advance gentlemen.

What's your goal? It's likely that you'd achieve the same goal with an 87mm turbine with better response and no custom machining. I'm nearly certain the 96mm center housings are actually different from the others; I wanna say the turbine ring groove and the flange are unique. If you're hell bent on the big turbine I'd just buy a box 75/96 (they're $650 new) and use a custom T4 housing(which you'd have to buy anyway). Sell the old unit to recoup some cost

You can put the 96mm wheel into the t4 housing, some folks shave the 96mm wheel to fit, others put in an insert as the 96mm cartridge is larger diameter.
