You looking for a set of 5K springs........ is that what you-all need a tape measure for.....

Just pouring a little salt in the wound after reading the vendor complaint thread!

Thanks! I need a little humor on that subject.

And since I have you here, I just wanted to say some of the stuff I've done to my truck before the tear down came from your Junker Drag Truck thread. My hat is off to you sir in appreciation!

I appreciate that Taylor but I've already paid for them in full through SDX and Weston says he will try and work something out if Jamie doesn't come through.

Update

Well some things as far as the motor builder goes. I will be going to Haisley now because Harts has neglected to call me back for quite some time now. Hopefully this will be a good choice. I'm going to call them today when I get home from work to set up a time to take everything over there. Also turbos have been sent down to Taylor to get there piping.

I'm going to be ordering a set of 286210 coated pistons with .050" flycuts in the morning as well.

In all the anticipation of sending the motor off and getting it back, I can't help but wonder what the break-in procedure is going to be. I have done a lot of looking and reading on here and what I have come up with is this: Prime oil, start and let run at 2000 rpm with no coolant for 5 min to seat rings, let cool and fill with coolant then run 15-20 min at 1800-2000 rpm to break in cam, let cool, retorque head and reset lash, then hook up to a heavy trailer and go pull the very few hills we have here in Illinois lol.

Now for the questions.
My procedure sound ok for both breaking in the cam and seating the rings since they will be done at the same time?
Between seating the rings and breaking the cam in, how cool do I let it get?
Since cold weather is going to be upon us, do I need to heat the block with a salamander or something along thoes lines upon first start?

Aside from breaking the cam in, I break them in how I'm gonna drive them. That's goes for everything we build or own. Stay away from no load situations and a steady rpm. That's a no no on seating in rings.

As far as temps, if its fairly cold out, heating things up prior to start up certainly won't hurt anything but I won't call it necessary either.

Engine break in? - Competition Diesel.Com - Bringing The BEST Together

This is where I got 98% of my info if you were wondering. Going along with blacksdieselhp was saying.

How would I do them both the cam and rings at the same time?

Break the cam in how you stated or per zachs request, then after the cam break in, do as you said or how I stated.

Stay away from keeping the engine at a steady rpm.

Back to the point, I am still torn between the two procedures. One skilled motor builder says to do it one way and the other says to do it another way. I need some more opinions! And no Rick its nothing against you lol.

Also in still undecided on whos going to machine and reassemble the motor...I know I know, I'm like a teenage girl but I do know that they have a lot of motors to build this winter and I dont really have that kind of time to wait that long. Anyone have luck with any other places around this area or should I just sack up and go with Haisley?

I had half a notion to go to Nyes Automotive. Thats where Haisleys sends all their stuff but I dont know the extent of there high horsepower diesel builds are. If someone knows a little more about them, please chime in.

Bringing it back!!

Got the truck all loaded up with parts and going to be heading to Indiana Friday morning. Also Taylor talked me into getting a Steed Speed and do away with the ATS, so that will be here this week sometime.
