Well i see if any of these match to what im looking for. Anybody else use a .020 over cummins Marine piston in their rebuild yet?

Wait! Dont use a .020" over 370 marine slug for high power. It is weaker than the standard bore 370 part. Considerably.

Two choices:

1) The best choice is to purchase a new block with a standard bore. It will be bored/honed small, but you can hone it out a few thou for added clearance. Use the standard bore Cummins 370 marine piston.

2) The next best choice is to keep the block you have at .020 over and use a Cummins .020 over 215 piston from 96-97.

Use .007" total piston to wall clearance.

You get what you pay for. Choice number 1 is best for high power.

Ok Well I cant justify a new block beings the motor I bought for the project already had a junk crank in it. That sucks cause I really wanted the bigger bowl the 370's offered. So whats the difference in the pistons in a 215 motor compared to a 180. And a stock 215 would be better than a Mahle 155. I also would like to get them shaved to drop the compression some. Any difference in piston choice with that being said?

Thanks Brett

hey thats not cool at all cuz i was looking at the same thing now im bummed what shall we unfortunate owners of a .020 over motor buy now or do we buy 215 pistons and mod the bowl and shave off top what we need???????

What Mahle pistons did you have and what happend with your motor?

i have a set of stk bowl mahles i think with .013 protrusion that are .020 over 2 of them #1 and #6 got into a fight with broken trubo parts after one of my many turbos blew apart, and you guessed it they lost
so tomm i am picking up an 03 common rail and the 97 12v will be strictly a pullling truck with the occasional friday night to raise some he** in town
