Bullet tappet cover breather

What's everyone doing for the crankcase ventilation with a billet cover? I was just going to run a hose out of each of the holes to a TEE and then to the ground. I'm pretty sure that would lead to a lot of oil dripping though so I need other ideas to allow pressure out but keep oil in.

Unless you got one of Keating Machines baffled ones that will lead to you pouring oil out of those tubes. You have a couple of choices, catch can setup or plug the holes and vent through the valve covers. I plugged mine and am using a dual cover breather. Some guys install a vent in the fill tube . Others weld baffled tubes into their stock covers.

Run it over into your exhaust.

I never had any luck using those, of course a hose straight down makes a huge mess, ran hoses to a catch can and filled the can up pretty quick. I went to the valve cover breathers.

I'm running mine out of the valve cover and into the exhaust at an angle to create a Venturi effect. You'll want some sort of baffle in there too so the oil from the rockers doesn't just splash down the tube.

Run a 90 degree fitting out of the tappet cover and point it up. Then run a 180 degree fitting off of that and run your hose down. Or you could do a 45 degree and 150 degree turn down.

Parker has some 330 micron filter fittings that would work. No idea on PN's, but if you went into a store, I''m sure they could help you.

They aren't cheap, but work perfect for this. Especially if you do what BluegrassDiesel suggested.

I ran a push lock hose to a moroso catch I mounted between my driver side battery and radiator. It hasn't even got a drop of oil in it now goin on over 8 months. I ran the hose down to the ground before I got my catch can and it dumped oil everywhere. I can send you pictures of how mine is right now if you'd like. It's clean simple and out of the way

My makes a huge mess would like to see pictures as well. Are you running one hose and catch can? I'm running 2 hoses. One on a 12v tappet and the other out fuel lope hole was curious if I could just go to one.

I just ordered a billet tappet. My plan is to run two 90 degree fittings up, two 180s back down. Plumb both lines to an aluminum catch can with a breather on top. Then I plan to tap and put a fitting in my stock lift pump block off plate and run a small line from the bottom of the catch can to it. That way any excess oil and can run back to the block.

Don't have a photobucket but I can text them to you. I have a eatsoot cover but pretty sure it was for a ppump because I had to mill some off of the cover and trim my vp bracket. I'm just running one hose to the catch can because I left my ecm in the stock location and it blocks the 2nd hole. I figured with my front ccv dumped to the ground and this one I should have enough vent for all I plan to do with the truck. Besides the cover it's a cheap setup too. Catch can was only $40 if I remember right and a cheap fitting from the hardware and some push lock nylon hose. I put it on my truck back in February or march and I just checked the bottle a few weeks back and it was still dry on the inside

I tried this with a catch can. Still filled it up very quickly.

Sounds like you've got some serious blow by, have you tried a valve cover breather , maybe you could relive some pressure somewhere ??

Glad to hear the valve cover breather helped, I'm going with one of the duel cover breathers next along with tappet cover breathers. Got a lil blow by on the plow truck also , hoping to clear it up a bit..

I started on a larger catch can with 4 ports to get rid of the smaller moroso can I currently have. Will get around to it when I finally can quit screwing around with the transmission.

Here's another option- fleetgard makes this complete crankcase breather/ filter kit that comes with all the hoses needed and actually fits nicely next to the cover. You'll have to remove a soft plug by the pan for the drain back and I doubt it would fit with a stock filter housing/ fuel lines, but I haven't gotten a drop of oil out of my blow-by tube on a freshly built and regularly flogged on 12v...
