That's what I was thinking, thanks for the confirmation. Id rather not blow holes in the side draft.

I was looking at that lol. If it was me, bung on the bottom side so it is hidden. 10min with a tig and be done. Hate to pull the intake off though just to clean out metal shavings for one little hole tho.

I wish it were that easy, my hands are so shakey that at 25, I think I have early stages of Parkinson's. So no tigging for me... And after how long it took to get those damn lines on there and all the clamps, no way i'm taking them back off haha.

I dread having to pull my lines any time......

Gathering up some parts, need some help!

It sure has been a while I know and some probably thought I croaked, but i'm back, now a homeowner, and engaged, and yes she let me keep my heap . It's been looking pretty sad for the last couple years sitting outside collecting dust, and rain, and snow.... But the time has come to finally finish what I started. I had a few small finishing touches to do on the engine before install.

I picked up a set of coated trunions from Trend Performance, and a set of billet rocker bridges from Fleece because you know, why not at this point.

I also wanted to prime the oil system, only because I could just not come to terms with the fact that most just crank the engine over until they get pressure. I ended up taking apart the old pump and welding a stub onto the gear drive and it worked great.

Planning on sticking the engine back in the truck this coming weekend. Now, I took the whole nose off the truck, and i'm thinking I just wanna bolt the trans to the engine and stick it all in in one shot since i'm doing it on the ground. I have a hoist that is capable, anyone ever do it all together?

I think you’ll have to pull off the motor mounts to get it shoehorned in, but if you hold your tongue in just the right spot it’ll probably slide in there.

Yea, I didn't measure at all but with no fenders or rad support, there's lots of room. Looks like it should slide straight in. Sure would be nice...

So I had been debating doing a remote oil filter, but after looking at the prices of Destroked and Pac, it just seemed overpriced for what I was trying to do especially since I happen to have a remote filter base floating around the shop. Did some research and poking around and found this - Spin-On Adapter (1"-16 Threads)

It's the correct thread size, and the oring is 2.5", so it sure seems like it's going to work, and for $24 i'll take a shot at it. Have it here on Thursday and post up some pics.

Remote unit fit just as I️ had hoped. Most likely I️ will end up mounting the remote filter head up under the cab if I️ can’t find a nice spot under the hood. Other then that it’s all set for re-entry this weekend. Going to attempt doing it with the trans on.

Really happy with the way this thing has came out thus far, inside and out. Lots of work to do after I️ get it in. Need to plumb new fuel system back to tank, finish turbo piping, clean up the wiring and many other little odds and ends.

What turbo setup are you running that needs dual ext Gates? Pretty slick how you piped them together.

Nothing that warrants 2 gates haha, but the whole thing for this build is do it all the right from the start, that way when or if I decide to go to bigger turbos, pump, etc., it will be easy to do without many changes. Also wanted to keep both banks completely divided for better lower end spool. Starting with a 363 over a 477. Nothing Special.

Was able to get in the shop for a little bit today and after thinking about it I figured instead of struggling with the cab on, I was only 20 minutes of work away to just lifting the thing off. Gonna make install much easier. Also had to burn in a new cross member cause I molested the old one beyond recognition. Motor trans and case going in tomorrow morning!

Got quite a bite done today. Engine, trans and tcase are in. Remove old AirDog system (will be for sale), dropped tank and put in a sump, mounted water separator and filter setup and started mocking up the turbos.

Gonna make up a new fan controller, since the old one was watch the temp gauge and flip em on when needed. Anyone have any experience with this type of controller? Seems like a pretty slick deal to run a set of two speed fans.

Settled on a place to mount the filter head. Convenient and IMO looks nice and clean. IMG_0186.JPG
IMG_0184.JPG
Got a couple other nic nacs done. Turbo oil feeds and drains. Threw the I/C in to get an idea of the pipe from I/C to engine.
IMG_0185.JPG
Am going to incorporate the grid heater into pipe as this truck will be used in cold weather also.

IMG_0187.JPGIMG_0190.JPGIMG_0188.JPG

Dissected the factory trans heat exchanger and remounted in front of engine, to be able to drive on cold days and in traffic. Had a small cooler laying around the shop and decided to mount it just under the front bumper. The element tucks just under the bumper to keep it somewhat hidden but will get really nice airflow without the use of a fan.

Finished up the trans cooling system tonight. Runs from trans, into heat exchanger, to cooler, and back into trans. Made the plumbing pretty easy with everything being all right next to each other.
Also dropped valve body out of trans to change the rooster comb to a 47re style to work with my nss and harness.
Dropped the cab down to check any clearance issues and found the rear most wastegate is just touching the fire wall. Nothing that can’t be knocked out with a hammer! More updates after tomorrow night!

Nothing to exciting tonight, got the yoke switched around on the Dana 80 for one for 1480 joints. The pinion nut wasn’t as bad as I had thought it was going to be. So with that both driveshafts are in and the driveline is finished. Just need to wire up the standalone tcm. Also covered the fire wall with some Cool-it heat mat.
