Questions fer you pullers.

I was watching some of the pulling on ESPN2 and RFD over the last few days, and I have questions.

1) What is that steam crap that comes out of the bottom of the rigs?

2) what is the diffrence between a regular tractor and a component tractor?

Component tractors are Tube frames, with a aftermarket trans. Usually Rockwell rear ends, With outboard planitaries.
With the amount of power we are putting out the cast iron parts are starting to fail, That and the old stuff is starting to get hard to find in some cases.
Check out my gallery I just uploaded a chassis photo.

I noticed some of the superstocks with planetaries...those things are just plain badass. Thanks for clearing up my question. I have been beating myself up trying to figure out how the tractors were not tearing themselves apart with the power they make. Seems the tv coverage says that any "new" looking tractor is a component. I still like the old throwbacks as well. Those pics are awesome!!!

I can imagine so. It seems that they would be more cost-effective, and they look sexier!

I have lots more pics every stage of fab etc. We built a Diesel and that Alky last year. We are going to build another component frame for the Diesel, I dont think I'll have time to get it fabbed before the first pull, With all we have to do.

If your watching RFD this Sat. You can see the Alky backed into the sled while the mods hook.

There are alot of different classes of tractors, The top 2 Hp wise are Super Stock and Pro Stock.
Supers are multi charger 30.5X32 tires, Pros are single charger 24.5X32 tires.
Super Stock and new for this year on the NTPA ProStock are allowed to run Component.
