I wasn't there, but I'd say lots of oil hitting lots of hot parts cause the flash fire.

Imagine how bad of a fire it would have been if it was gasoline, or e85 fueled. Atleast we have a non volital fuel. If that's how you spell that. Glad he was safe.

What's yall's plan going forward Will?

Hate for this to happen to any one. But it sure seems like a it could have been much worse. Glad Todd is uninjured. Can’t wait to see what y’all brew up for going forward. I sure enjoy the YouTube videos.

Think I’ll check on my life insurance policy today. Make sure everything is in tip top shape.

Makes you think about the emergency kills that bodacious was trying to sell, supposedly no chance they can fail. Cant help but think a working kill would have saved all this carnage.

Steel hood acted as the “block cables”. If this thing had a fiberglass clip the motor would’ve been skidding down the track. The Motor had to be as high as the hood is bent at some point, a decent two to three feet!

I can see the little electric solenoid for the air kill, I wonder if it's not strong enough to be able to close at full pressure, whatever huge amount that set of triples was making at the runaway.

I was going to say the same thing!!! Good thing they had a steel hood for sure... Even if the upper part of the engine did not end up on the track it could have ended up on, in or through the windshield if there were no hood or a race weight fiberglass hood.

Block cables might be a very good idea for the sanctioning bodies to consider for the safety of the drivers and fans alike...

Holy phuck!!

What was the setup? Was that with the 16mm pump? And was that on the nitrous also?

As far as I can gather there was no nitrous used. 16mm pump, basic same setup as UCC without all the mix and matched parts to make it run right.

Whoever wants the hood and blown up tire they are in a trash can somewhere at RMR

WOW, I would have thought that they would take those back to the shop as trophies and hang them on the wall...

Most of the off road race teams do it with there broken and battered body panels. Makes the shop look pretty cool and gives it a ton of character for sure!

We should have a YouTube video up within an hour or so!!!

As far as setup:
Solid Hamilton 6.7 Block
4.250" Diamond Pistons Centered Bowl
Carrillo HD standard length rods
6.7 Cummins Crank
Filled/Ported Hamilton WarHead w/ Inconel Valves 2" intake
Farrell 16mm P7100 pump (1350 cc capable)
PDD 5x038" IH-style dual feed injectors
62mm 220/240 4.50 lift Flat Tappet Cam
9/16" Pushrods
14mm Gorilla Girdle
14mm by 9/16" Custom Length Head Studs
PDD Custom Timing Case w/cam support bearing
Custom 8.3 Oil Pump
SMT Roller Rocker Assembly (This pass had SMT, have also successfully used Harland Sharp for all of UCC)
Pair 98mm GTX5533 chargers feeding a large custom Bell water/air cooler then feeding an 88mm GTX55 on the T-6 steed manifold which then feeds a second Bell water/air cooler and then into a Keating intake manifold.
Scheid Electric water injection system
Backed up by a PDD 48re Rollerized/Transbrake/Dump Valve/Lockup DPC Quad Disk

6100 LB race weight.

On this pass we started fueling at 370 cc's and ramped up to 960 cc's over the course of 2 seconds so it didn't really make big power till 3rd gear.

You guys made it to Jalopnik.

Just make sure to correct them if they say some chit they dint know about. People love to comment on what they don't quite comprehend.
