Smoke at startup???
Lost the head gasket couple years back, took to shop and found the head cracked as well. New work done was a new complete head assembly, ARP studs, grid heater delete, pusher intake, egr delete, external waste gate, full 4" exhaust, all deletes done. Truck runs great, no issues with operation. Coolant, boost, power, etc seems spot on. Only issue is that when the truck is started after sitting a couple hours it blows a nice big puff of white smoke (maybe blue, my old eyes can't tell the diff) and smells of burnt oil, clears out pretty fast maybe one or two throttle hits and its gone. Had a buddy tell me he could smell brunt oil when following me but can't really see any smoke, worse when I hit the throttle. Truck now uses oil too. Original shop that did the work is not an option. That being said, any thoughts on what this could be? My first thought was a leaking valve guide seals, hard to believe with a brand new head assembly. There is no fuel or smell in the oil and the smoke smells like burnt oil. Its using about 1 quart of oil for every 2-3000 miles driven and before this work being done it never used a drop. Could it be turbo seals leaking, valve guide seals or injectors? Figure injectors would smell of raw fuel and didn't think that bad turbo seals would only smoke on start up.
Any ideas what the problem could be and how to diagnose without spending a crap load of cash for a shop to diagnose?

How's the blowby look out the oil fill in the valvecover, and after it's been run hard up to temp?

Since it only seems to do it after sitting, I'd say it has to do with guides and/or seals.
No blowby when hot or cold reinforces this idea.
A turbo MAYBE can do similar, leaking into the intake plumbing, but that's simple enough to tell, by pulling the boost tube nearest the turbo and looking for oily residue.

Plan on pulling both the boost tubed and the downpipe to inspect for oil residue on either side of turbo in a couple weeks, would check sooner but 12 hour days and out of town funeral have me short on time. Think I have it narrowed down to either valve guide seals or turbo seals. Leaning turbo since my buddy states he can smell it following me and it is slightly worse when I hit the throttle. Leads me to think the seals in the turbo are seeping into the exhaust side and burning off.

This thread interest me. My friend has a built 04 CR with the same symptoms you are describing. The last piece to the suspecting puzzle is his turbo.
Curious on your findings.

Pulled the intake so far, turbo full if oil, shaft has noticeable play, at least 1/32”. Pretty sure turbo is shot.

For and aft is noticeable, but not as bad as side to side.

Side to side play will always be more noticeable due to the shaft not being pressure lubed when you check it.
Sounds like a turbo rebuild is in your near future.
