Water temp sensor

I’ve got a 98 12v truck and I’m converting over to 24v. It’s a new build and I was going to put the water temp sensor on the side of the head between the map sensor and the ait sensor. The sensor on the 12v head is down between 4 & 5. Click the image to open in full size.
Has anyone else done this before. Would it get an accurate reading in this location. 98 12v was that bastard half year when they changed things around.
