International DT360 Swap in F350

To my knowledge this is the first dt360 swap that has retained the mechanical fan. Specific details, p-pump swap, 4r100, s363 turbo, carson stauffer valve train. Just got the engine running in the truck last night, a lot more work to do before it hits the road but hopefully soon it will makes some laps around town

Dt360 is a 92 model, doner truck is a 03 f350, had a 6.0 with all the normal 6.0 issues, bought the truck cheap and it was perfect for this swap. Bad engine, not perfect condition, crew cab long bed 4x4.
On the DT360, i fabbed up a serpentine system using various parts from a 466 and the old 6.0, fan clutch is from a DT360 on a water pump stand, fan spacer came from a D360 tractor engine, fan itself is off a 6.4 powerstroke, back plate i got on the engine is 3/8" stainless 304 i think, which was overkill but it was free so, its what was used.

Future note for anyone who installs a fass pump in the super duty, you can indeed put the suction tube in the fuel sending unit with no issues. A little more preferred over putting a hole in the tank in my opinion

There's a guy on fb that put a dt360 into a 08-10 truck. Not sure what he did for the fan

Yeah, ive seen all sorts of versions of this swap but everyone just goes electric from what ive seen. I think no one has wanted to cut up the fire wall of modify the hood. Of course depending on what body lift you do, the hood can be minimized

Must like the challenge for sure! I absolutely applaud the OP for doing this work in the grass backyard. What made me laugh is it appears in the one picture that the area was formed at one time to pour concrete. "The hell with the concrete, we have a truck to build!"

From the pictures I assume a DT360 is considerably taller than a 6.0 or even a 5.9 Cummins? Goodluck on the swap and keep us posted!
 
Drive shafts?

Yeah, I'm a shade tree mechanic without a tree for sure.
Crane is just a harbour freight unit that i welded round bar too for some wheel i got from a tractor supply for a dolly (330lb rated each)
As for the engine height, it's only as high as it is because of the fan, water pump sits pretty much at the top of the motor and obviously that's what drives the fan. I had considered fabbing up some bracketry for another pulley dedicated to the fan that would have lowered it more centered to the engine but it was something that I decided against. No doubt everything is more challenging without a shop but the idea of posting something like this is to hopefully inspire people who aren't as fortunate to have a shop to not be afraid of tackling a project like this.

The current issue of running to, not really so much of an issue but obviously I need to get some drive shafts made but I'm wondering if anyone knows of a vehicle that has a two-piece drive shaft that measures to 81 1/2" flange to flange? I have a local guy who can do drive shaft work but if I can locate a vehicle that has a drive shaft that's exactly what I need, then that would make it easier in case of an unfortunate set of circumstances that would require me to have get a new drive shaft.

Taking advantage of my 5 day break

Dont have to go back to work til Wednesday, going to get a lot done. As of today, i got the transmission lines finalized, finished the intercooler piping and got the power driven afc controller tested out. Goal is to get a lot more done. Tuesday night i will post an update with pictures.

I'm not too savvy on how degas bottles work, I just copied what I'd seen for other swaps and I'm not certain it's working right. I have the main (3/4") hose connected to the bottom port fof the water pump. Does this seem right to anyone? It is showing symptoms of the system being over filled. The level read in range when the engine is off but its way over when the engine is running. Do I just need to take some coolant out and try it out?

Second thing: Alternator
I have the command wire tied right to the main battery lead, normal this would be feed form the CJB by the instrument cluster fuse. Anyone see a reason that cause me any issues? My concern would be battery draw or over charging? This is my swap with a internal regulator, I'm used to needing a external voltage regulator so I'm not sure and the Ford shop manual I have isn't very helpful.

I would expect the run level to be about an inch higher than Key Off Engine Off cold "full" level. Flow and coolant expansion should keep the level a bit higher during operation.

I wouldn't trust an externally regulated alt just wired to VBAT.

Update

Here is everything that i got done:
Patched the fire wall
Game planned a ducting system to retain defrost
Intercooler piping
Cold air intake and box
Power steering reservoir mounted
Most of the front clip put back together
Solved cooling issue
Got the p7100 controller working
Finished the exhaust down pipe

Game planned everything else that needs to happen, power steering pressure and return lines, exhaust, interior, some wiring, headlights, hood, grill, bed service panel, gauges, transmission controller and driveshafts

Cooling system:
So i did indeed overfill the cooling system. Turns out on initial startup I overfilled the degas bottle so there was a buffer as it worked the air out of the system. At he time i filled up the system i had my high point air vent open and I wasn't counting on it working so well and it turns out it worked all the air out on initial fill up. I drained a gallon out of the system and now everything seems to be operating as it should
Dont have much more to go, should be driving it towards the end of January
Since i know someone is going to ask, the sealant on the firewall is some all weather high temp mp1. Its used in quite a few applications where i work primarily in weather sealing and sound deadening. Its extremely flexible, handles vibrations very well, bonds to anything in any condition and has a high temp resistance. Well, a fire wall has all of those things so i think its perfect for the application, just in case the weld didnt get it

Did you seriously run dryer vent duct for your intake pipe!!?? That's a first for me. Or is it just temporary?

Glad to see you are moving ahead with the swap you've had in the works for while.

Dryer vent is temporary, i didn't have the pipe i wanted so until i could get some. Allowed me to continue running the engine and fab up an air box. The vent pipe will be repurposed for fresh air ducting from the hood venting
 
Made some changes

The degas bottle issue was bothering me too much, ended up talking to a buddy from the ford shop I worked at and he got me right on track. I put a plug in the air compressor supply port I had the bottle connected to and I tee's the bottle into the return line for the heater core. Light years better just on start up. Once it was explained to me I realized my mistake and knew better than to have the expansion tank on the discharge side of the pump. Which, big no no in hydroponic work, I knew better, dumb mistake.

As for this weekends plans, going to get the interior put back together, modify the air box. I never cared for a/c and normally never use anything other than defrost and feet in the winter so I'm just going to lock the blend door in heat, take the door for the feet air and run a branch to the defrost header. My shipment of Kikmat should be here tomorrow morning, before I get the dash hung back up I'll modify the accelerator pedal and strip the wiring harness of everything I don't need.

I want to make a custom instrument cluster, I'm thinking of running glowshift gauges. Anyone have some other recommendations for gauges?
