Changing Air Filter on a 7.3 PSD

Changed all the filters on the work trucks a couple of weeks ago and took some pics during the process to help anyone out that hasn't done this before.


I always use Motorcraft filters:

The stock air box is located along the driver's side by the fender and battery:

The cover of the stock air box is secured down by two clips (one per side):

And three tabs by the fender:

You'll release both of the clips:

And slide the cover away from the fender to release the tabs the you can lift it out of the way to access the filter:

Next, remove the old air filter:

You'll want to use a rag or shop towel to wipe out of the box and the lid.

New filter vs. old filter (3000-4000 miles on it)

Drop the new filter into the cleaned out air box.

Lower the lid back down, slide it towards the fender so that the tabs get locked in and then secure the clips and you're done.
