What RPM does your primary make boost?

More info: my hot pipe to S300 wasn’t sealed real well due to binding when I installed everything so the other day I loosened everything up, got them aligned and now that is good. When checking for leaks there with the exhaust brake on I have a massive exhaust pressure leak at the S300 wastegate cover. Going to get that thing off, cleaned and put some ultra copper rtv on there and hope for the best.
 
Copper RTV will hold back exhaust gas?

It’s rated at 750 deg and is intended for exhaust. It seems to have great reviews on other forums in this application. The cover is easy enough to get to, if the RTV doesn’t work I’ll make a paper gasket out of the 1200 degree stuff.
 
I don’t have a picture. When exhaust brake is on exhaust gasses are leaking from the wastegate cover on the s300.
 
There’s no gasket there, just metal to metal. I can’t find one either. There a spacer available that lets you vent more gasses but no gaskets.
 
The leak needs to be fixed, sure.

But if it was a bad enough leak to effect the primary that bad, the whole under hood of your truck would be covered in black soot.

Agreed 100%. Pulling intermediate boost gauge and sending it back for test/replacement. Installed an oil filled gauge as a temp test method. The RTV did in fact seal that wastegate cover. Now I have minor bubbles at the T3 foot but the cartridge has to come out to remedy that. It can wait for another day as it only shows it’s face when the exhaust brake is on. Hopefully my gauge is bad and I’m actually making boost before 2250 rpm.

Temp gauge says the primary starts making boost about 1500-1700 rpm depending on the grade.

You can try sanding or filing the surfaces true and making your own copper gasket. You can buy 1/16" or 1/8" copper sheet from mcmaster carr and cut out your own gasket. RTV to hold back exhaust gas behind a turbo is a waste of time.
