What would you change?

Went to the track yesterday for the first time with everything on the truck working like it should, ran a best of 11.12 at about 6500lbs, time slip is below. Been dreaming of breaking into the 10's just for the cool factor but don't wanna do it at the expense of streetability, trucks still fun as is.

Showed up with the pump at 600CCs and 20* timing, went 11.18 and 11.20
Bumped the pump up to 700CCs and left timing at 20*, went 11.28
Bumped timing to 26* and left the pump at 700CCs, went 11.14
Dropped fuel back to 600CCs with timing still at 26*, went 11.12

It was much tougher to stage the truck at 26* but it definitely picked up some power. Made about 60psi of boost on every setup except 700CCs and 20*, fell to about 50psi there. Truck has a healthy haze at 600CCs, 700CCs was WAY too much fuel though. With that in mind, what would you change in the below setup?

Stock 275k mile short block
24V head with half a$$ port job and ZZ Fab shelf
13mm pump with 903 cam, 131 DVs
.084 injector lines, 6x.013s with extra lift from Weston
Fuelab lift pump, holds 60+psi down the track
BD T4 manifold
Cast S472/83/1.0
HTS FMVB 47RE, Goerend 17-250 converter

Or compounds. I think compounds would be better on the street and give you more air at the same time. Unless your just looking for small tweaks with your current setup? A cam too.

Go back to 700+cc and 28* of timing, :nos: 2stage setup, one small shot for spool up and getting out the hole and the other one for making the pass. Would be the cheapest and most beneficial route. A cam would definitely help.

Great run. Id try to lose more weight from the truck, though. 6500lbs is heavy for a RC/LB in race trim. What tire/wheel combo?

Compounds keep crossing my mind, I could probably be convinced. Was planning on a cam over the winter but I came to the conclusion that I can't fit one that would benefit me in my current setup, head has been decked at least a couple times.

Why not try 650CC? LOL

I knew I should've marked the pump for 650 when we benched it :hehe: I'll try a few more plate settings next time out. Might pull more out to see what happens too, its pretty smokey up top.

Thanks! I thought about pulling the passenger seat, center console, tailgate, and hood just for a glory pass. I've got 20x10s with 305/50 Nittos NT420S, ran it at 30psi front and 20psi rear.

Not sure how you feel about injecting anything, but nitrous or water meth might be the cheapest way to get into the 10s. Otherwise weight or more air because it seems like you have plenty of fuel.

Water meth dropped alittle over a tenth for me. Losing my tailgate, spare tire, back seat and rear bumper helped too.

I'm trying to avoid injectables, I'll try again with more weight out of the truck and bump up timing some more if it still stages. Timing is definitely going back to 20* for street driving so it'll need more air if I wanna go 10s with that setup. Already started the search for a primary to go with my S472, might try that down the road if I can find something cheap.

Tailgate, spare, hitch would certainly help. Leave the pass seat for if you just cant get that last .001. :hehe:
Even though you cut a 1.62 - 60ft (great! BTW), those 20s arent helping either. They've got to be relatively heavy. Cutting unsprung weight is very beneficial.

Never thought to pull the hitch, guess its easy enough to take out and that suckers heavy. I did manage a 1.58 60ft on my first pass, wondering if that was due to the lower timing helping on the bottom end? Could've just been staged a little more shallow. FWIW a couple years back I had some heavy 20x12's on the truck and swapped them for stock 3rd gen wheels and tires, ran a consistent best of 12.2 on each setup, maybe there's something more to be said about it now that I'm a second faster.

I'm saying in the couple hundred ppump builds I been involved in theses delivery valves don't perform well . They flow terrible good plungers with stock delivery valves don't make sense

I see, was just curious. The pump had 022s in it when I first built it, swapped them out for the 131s a few months in. It makes about the same fuel at 11mm of rack with 022s as it does with the 131s at 13mm so I figured that's just more resolution on the pedal, plus it got rid of the part throttle smoke. Might have to try them again at the track.
