07 f250 powerstroke

Hey guys I was wondering if you could help me out. I just purchased a 07 F-250 with 6o Powerstroke. I would like to add programmer to a and I've heard a lot about the SCT by reading trailer forums. Before I make my purchase I got a couple of quick questions, first is the 6o even worth it? Second I'm pretty mechanically inclined how hard would it be if I installed it myself? 6.0 isn't a bad motor, just needs more attention than others.
SCT with custom tunes is a good route. plug and play.

being a 6.0, would you be able to bulletproof it yourself if need be?

Headstuds and a EGR delete, the 6.0's are actually decent motors.

If you haven't done those things yet leave it stock.

Swap a Cummins in it.

Use an sct device but get good custom tunes. gearhead in Texas gets my vote.
