Hellman billet manifold, leaks?

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased an 06 5.9CR with a Hellman side draft intake manifold. Supposedly it was machined by II, everything is ok accepts oil weeps out of bolts. I did contact Hellman, but never got a response. Figure I would see if this was normal for anyone else?

Bolts are not loose when I checked, but may not be torqued probably.Click the image to open in full size.

Pull the stud out and put some sealant on it. It likely protrudes into the valve cover area.

It's pretty much every stud that leaks, not just one.

Got a Hellmann in mine , it's been on 2 different heads with no leaks at all . If the person doing the machine work can follow instructions there should be no problems with hitting oil . Joe sends great instructions for machining , but than again you mentioned ii so sounds about par

I'd take it off and put Right Stuff sealant on all the bolt holes. I've seen II's machining, and I could do a lot better than them with a pissed off beaver (I'm being serious). What is that wire for? I would definately move it to another location.

Pull the bolts, clean the bolts and holes well with brake parts cleaner, re-install bolts with thread sealer or RTV. Holes were probably drilled into the pushrod galleys

Loctite on the studs should do the trick. I'm not sure if yours are but you can use set screws so you can get them out later.

Thanks everyone for the great responses, I was kind of hoping it was just re-torque they do this all the time type of thing. I also hope the fire ring II did is a bit better shape. :-). What you get for getting a truck for a good deal, get own some stuff like this. Will try some sealant here when I get some time like suggested.

That wire is an extra ground strap to the negative on the battery. Why? Who knows for sure, this is a Ford swap and destroked likes to tell folks you can never have too many grounds. Will probably remove here gauge is thin enough is not doing much.

This may be new thread worthy but any of you with a Hellman intake run a grid heater of some kind?

I highly doubt anyone's running a grid heater with a Hellmann intake
