Need help with my Allison in my Cummins

I wasn't sure where to post this but I purchased a CA conversions kit a few months ago and the first transmission lasted 2k and I had to send it back to them to fix. I had to pay for it because they said because I added a cam it messed with their computer they use and caused it to fail. Now 1k later it failed again. I am looking for a local guy in the Midwest to work on it and actually figure out why its failing. I am also open to junking their computer setup if necessary. They want me to spend 3k to ship my truck down there but I just don't know if I have any faith in them at this point. Midwest guys who are good with Allison and conversions.

I recall asking what parts were used before, never heard an answer back. They could be cheaping out on parts as well as missing key areas on the rebuild.

I also suggest calling Inglewood Transmission to see if they'll help you out

I am in Minneapolis Minnesota. Yeah I know the trans has all the billet hard parts but don't know all the intricate details. I tore apart PCS1 and seen it had some kind of shift kit parts in it.

When you say failed what is it doing? Did you pull trans apart or just drop valvebody?

I didnt pull it apart first time but they said C2 and C3 burned up if I remember. I have only pulled pan this time. I am not sure if anything is burned up yet.

ok, c2 active 4th-6th and c3 is 3rd and 5th, there are some good updates for those clutches. my guess is medium duty tuning locks converter in 3rd and now the clutches take a beating, also when the converter locks pressure is cut back unless the converter cut back valve is modified. Have you checked line pressure or asked where it was set? Also not sure on what tuner or hp you have but switching tunes on a adaptive learn trans will burn it up pretty quick, even with shitty tuning there's plenty of guys who can build that trans to hold the power, they just don't tolerate a bind very well with the converter locked up......My guess is they have off the shelf allison tuning from one of the many cummins/allison medium duty trucks...Aside from burning up transmissions how does it shift or act under normal driving and towing? shift feel and shift schedule?

Isn't sparkle britches mid- west? i believe he has the mechanics of the allison figured out.......

Converter locks at 25mph no matter what. I am definitely not a fan of this HD computer setup but it did shift nice at part throttle. I am so surprised this one burned up again because I was just so easy on it. After the first one failed I was so bummed that I just decided I was just going to drive the truck on switch 1 and never beat on it again. I think really my best solution is switch to the PCS kit and just start all over.

That sux, my guess is mostly stock trans, can you get a build list from them? an allison in stock form isn't bullet proof, only reason they live is defuel on the shifts... Does yours defuel on the shifts? If not it will need upgrade ( you already know this) Has the name Jason been mentioned to you?

How do you deal with no defuel on shifts with your setup on the black truck?

Had a buddy several years ago with one of the early D-max/Allison's he'd built for a dedicated pulling truck. It would defuel so bad the sled would slam the back of the truck. I don't think he ever got it to shift without defueling and finally sold it.

My suggestion on the shop to call still stands. It's not complete black magic to get one to hold power or shift right, but 90% of the shops will hack it together.

What year trans does it have? Do you know if they used a 5spd or 6spd drum?
