Exhaust back pressure

What is this thing at the bottom of the turbo with a plug on it? The reason I ask is I just picked up my truck from getting fixed and noticed this plug not plugged in so I ask them abought it and they said it is the exhaust back pressur valve and to leave it unplugged. They said it causes more problems with it plugged in? So can someone please explain this to me... Thanks..

It can get stuck closed...sucks when it does...no power, high egts, etc..
That being said...mine has only gotten briefly stuck once...

Some of the aftermarket turbos don't even come with them...

Less restriction.

Even with the ebpv fully open it takes up air space.......remove it....and you have more space.
At least I think that's why....:aiwebs_005:
