Cummins is the small block chevy of the diesel world. They're cheap, everybody and their brother has one, and they have already been built in every configuration imaginable.

a friend of mine has a 05 cummins and he runs almost 500rwhp and has only about $2500 in aftermarket parts in it and still gets almost 22mpg so i wouldnt say that the 24valves are junk. the truck is driven, towed with, and just beat on every day and he is alot better off than my 7.3 is

just some food for thought

I think the 24v he was commenting on were the 98.5-02 24v not the 03+ 24v CR trucks. Even still you are right the CR trucks are really easy to get really decent numbers from. I have not paid retail on any of the parts I bought except for my ppe programmer and have gotten 525/996. I have a stick, so i'm at a disadvantage for drag racing, but it doesn't mean I won't shift as fast as I can and milk it for all it's worth!

Anyway, I guess if this guy wants to put the 7.3 in the chevy then I give more power to him, cuz the engine isn't gonna give it! it would be something that a lot of people would be interested in and ask questions about though. I think any swap is interesting and I will give it a look, no matter which engine is swapped in.

Oh, slightly off topic but - if you do a swap, say a Cummins into a Ford and you leave the PSD badges on the door....please hang yourself. There's a guy running around the Lima Jamboree this weekend...nice truck, but take the PSD badges off retard.

If you want to be different swap in an international dt360, you can get cheap power, and be different.
I love my powerstroke, it sounds awesome, and I get decent mileage with it; but I am very interested in doing the dt360 or 466 swap in my 99 powerstroke myself.

Well,
The project is finally started, however slow going because of so many other projects. I have the basis for the machine.
1991 OBS Crew Cab 1 ton 4x4. 60 kingpin front, 14 bolt rear, 465 4 speed, np205. currently a 6.2 diesel.
I have since picked up a 98 quad cab ram. IT is also a 1 ton 4x4 with the 12 valve that everybody nuts over (whatever). Automatic, 60 front, 80 rear, 241 case, and 4.10 gears. However it is a dually. Fully loaded though. Neat that the back doors open, I guess you could only get the quad cab with the 12 valve for a few months.
Since everyone has talked me out of the 7.3, I might switch gears ot a 6v53TTA or a 8v53T. I can get both engines, run a allison 545 with a divorced transfer. However, I did not want this to be a full tilt pulling truck, I still wanted to be able to street drive it, maybe even on some trips. I am meeting with a guy with a 6v53 turbo'd ford to see how well his does.
I am still thinkin about a 7.3, maybe even a 6.0 into a mid 90's Chevy extended cab 4x4.
I pretty much have everything except the engine. I may sell the DODGE to help fund the other projects. I also have a Solid axle V8 S10 Blazer I am trying to do also, Maybe with a 6.0 or a turbo'd 6.2 hevy Chevy. It currently has a smallblock stroker gasser.
Still love the 7.3 though.
Mike
