1998.5 ram 3500

I have a 1998.5 dodge 3500 auto and 4x4. To get it to move I have to give it at least half throttle. It pulls like a it's loaded and it doesn't even have anything hooked to the truck.

Check for trans codes. May be locked in third gear, in limp mode.

Third gear? I have no codes. It just has a slow take off but sounds like it's hauling ass but it not

Ya if they are in limp mode due to trans code it will start in third gear. You might have to give a little more info. Does the rpm come up around 2000-2250 and the truck slowly accelerates? Or does it go to 3000 rpm and it barely moves?

If it has codes, clear them and see if they come back. If they clear it should come out of limp mode. If they do come back fix the problem.
