That’s my screened in patio area on the old house that will be demolished later this year. Currently the screen patio serves as my paint booth.

I’m waiting for you to show up with some bondo or new panels to replace the beat up ones. What’s taking so long??

It was a farm truck for 23 years on a south Texas ranch where my cousin worked. My cousin left the door open while backing up in the pasture and hung the door on a feed trough. What you see is a ball peen repair job. The door opens 90° now which is nice.

Sub'd to read later; currently looking into building a shop since we are out of garage space. Before I get thru the thread and if this hasn't been answered yet, any of you guys epoxy the concrete? Why / why not?

Also, do any of you guys have airplane hangar doors? Advantages / disadvantages other than if you have a climate controlled shop?

Look into polished concrete, seems to hold up much better than epoxy!

Building a shop

What has peaked your interest in a bi-fold door (airplane hanger door) vs. a roll up? If you. Have a 30’ door opening, then I see the need. Though they sure limit the overall door opening height.

No experience with epoxy concrete surfaces. Though I’ve walked into enough shops that regret doing epoxy floors. Polish or stained concrete would be the avenue to consider.

We epoxy concrete here at work. With daily traffic, prolly more than your shop, it lasts about a year looking good, 5 years looking decent, and at about 10 years it needs redone. That's normally foot traffic, roll-around carts, and an occasional pallet jack with 1500# racks on them. I'd polish the concrete if I had to choose between those two options.
