Ready for Summer HEAT?

New Trans build, and my factory trans cooler is plugged!! So, I goes to the Pain Management Dr. for spine injections to help me deal with a bad back, and I get this crazy idea to build a do all to end all trans cooler set up. Picks to follow. I find out I can still weld aluminum...kinda... So, parts used are 2X 25 row Dreale oil koolers and one BD double stank w/fan under the bed.

NO! I'm not ready. I noticed my AC wasn't working. I purged and charged the system. Checked for leaks, and couldn't find any.

Two days later and I've got no AC... I ordered up an evaporator since that's the only component I couldn't reach to test and it smelled a little in the cab. Guess I'm tearing the damn dash off this weekend.

I just came back from a test run with my new radiator mounted Derale coolers. Outside temp is 97 today, I went on a 40 mile loop in the hills, in the city, and some hwy miles. Hottest temp seen was city driving @ 155* in the pan,and 167* from the transducer/governor or wherever it comes from on my digital display screen. Lowest temp was on hwy @ 70mph and held a steady 130* in the pan, and 142* on the display all the way home then stopped to check my levels and all good. So I never even came close to needing my AUX cooler, but glad it's there for emergencies. All this for 1/2 the cost of a Mishimoto cooler, and I doubt they could touch those #'s.

old habits dye hard I guess. I used to be the guy in the tool room that did all the mold base plates, and if they were off a bit nothing would fit. So a surface plate and height gauge were my best friend. Plus, I like the way it smells!!!

I just had my AC evacuated and filled and it's so cold it hurts! I also put a shut off ball valve in the heater hose line so the heater core doesn't heat up the AC duct...it works a little too well!! Hope you get your AC figured out that's a must have!

I spent some time in the Philipeans doing jungle warfare training, when I was in the Marines,... Big humidity, and heat... everyone was getting prickly heat, rashes, sores, that is no place for humans!

NASCAR PWR C R Visteon Aluminum Engine Oil Cooler IMCA UMP NHRA #13916 | eBay

This is similar to what I use. I picked up a few when I was out east. Just be sure to get one that was used on a road course or short track, because the fins are way different when they’re going 200!
