Shorter Shocks for Tower Deletes Part #

After searching for hours on here trying to decide what to get to lower my truck (95 2500 RCLB 4x4) I couldn't find anything for a part # for a shorter shock when lowering from stock height and deleting the shock towers. I went on my NAPA Prolink site at work and figured out a part Number that ended up working good. Part # for the shock I Used is #911188 (I actually ordered them from Orleans Auto Supply (local parts store) since Napa didn't have their part # in Stock (Part #911188 for a Reflex shock or Part#344399 for a KYB).

Stock shock dimensions are:
Upper Mount Style: S5 (Threaded pin with Bushings)
Lower Mount Style: LS47 (eyelet)
Extended Length: 21.75"
Compressed Length: 14"
Travel: 7.75"

911188 Dimensions are:
Upper Mount Style: S5 (Threaded pin with Bushings)
Lower Mount Style: LS47 (eyelet)
Extended Length: 15.875"
Compressed Length: 10.75"
Travel: 5.125"

Overall the 911188 is:
5.88" shorter (extended length)
3.75" shorter (Compressed)
2.63" Less Travel
than the stock shocks.

And for reference, the stock towers are 5" tall from mounting surface to eyelet for top shock mount to come through.

I have some other shocks part #'s that are shorter than stock but not as short as the part number I posted I can post if theres any interest in knowing other options. These shocks worked good for me. I took the 4.5" block out of the rear (stock springs with cal tracs), and cut one coil off the front springs and shock tower delete plates from Fleece. I wanted a shorter shock so when the suspension unloaded the spring wouldn't unload completely and be able to come out of the bucket but wanted to avoid running limiting straps. After I installed the shocks I jacked the truck up by the frame and the front end can hang and springs still have tension on them.

All the conclusions I had found in other posts on this subject ended with people either going Full Coilovers, couldn't remember the part #, or the thread was closed before any definitive answers were given. Figured this would help out the people that want to gather all the parts before disabling their truck but don't have the money to drop on coil overs and want to retain a somewhat stock setup. The two shocks cost me $115.00 (cost through my work) List price is about $95.84/ea

Doing this drop to my truck, center of my wheel wells are 38 1/4" from the ground.

Excellent info thank you. What size are your wheels and tires? Offset? No rubbing? Nice truck.

Not sure on the offset because I got them used but I assume they’re -18 offset.
Only rubs on the very bottom bolt on the sport bumper that holds the edge to the bracing at partial turn.

Man, that is exactly how I'm trying to make my truck sit. Thanks for posting the info.

Do you have any issues bottoming out up front while street driving?

It definitely rides stiffer but I don’t think I’ve even hit the bump stops yet. It’s pretty close to then though. Haven’t hit any good bumps yet either though

Thanks. I might try the factory height up front to start with. You got it looking right though.

I like that blacked out roof.

Thanks. It’s actually how the donor cab was when I swapped it years ago and when I repainted the whole truck I had to keep it. It gets a lot of compliments
