I always put a second shipping label inside the box and on something like that transfer case, I'll staple one to a wire tag and wire it to the item. Haven't lost one yet.

All the shipping companies have issues like this. I worked at DHL in high school and it was amazing what some people would do to packages. It was always a pain when large items busted out of packaging. I watched a forklift operator break a 16' long box in half that happened to contain a $15k giraffe carved out of some exotic wood. I just had a issue with a package I ordered that took a month to show up. I still haven't figured out how Honolulu is on the way from Oregon to Kentucky.

I sure hope the O/P gets his injectors back.

I've sent pictures, weights, autocad drawings, casting numbers, etc. It made no difference in my case. I can see them losing an envelope in a sorting maching, but not the bigger items.
I'm just about finished with my new teleporter so I can avoid shipping all together. If I can just get around the fact that it shrinks whatever I send, it would be perfect.

When I bought my last set of injectors from a different vendor, the shipper required me to sign for them to insure that I received them. I am surprised F1 didn't do that.
You can also make a request to UPS that all packages delivered to your address require a signature from now on.

That's a good idea, but it wouldn't always work for us because many times packages are delivered while nobody is home.

Honestly, if you are having issues with deliveries, it would just be best to get your items delivered to where you work (if its allowed). I know many people who do that. Hell, I encourage people to do that since shipping costs can be lower to a business, and you know you are getting your items.
Just so's you all know....if you file a driver release claim with UPS and it gets paid, your address is usually deemed a "signature only" stop from then on. Driver cant release pkg without your actual sig or the signed delivery notice.
Incidentally, you should be able to sign the delivery notice so we can leave the package the next day if the package comes sig required and we dont catch you home.
The only packages we cant leave like that are the "over 21" type sig req, which were only meant for alcohol, certain prescription drugs and firearms, but some shippers accidentally use it for other items.
