4x4 suspension

What is your caster on the front axle? Anyone have an idea about what actually caused the death wobble measurement wise
No idea... It showed it's arse at a really bad time (Week before world finals). So I put it in the trailer and haven't ran it since.

Just grab the torch, heat that thing so you can bend to desired shape. Figure out where you want to cut it and shorten it. Then take it to an old machine shop around ya and have them cut and thread for a tie-rod sleeve. Might even make one out of chrome moly tubing.

Just my $.02

Better yet, bring it down here to the shop, I'll make ya one and sell every body else a copy. Want one Anthony???
If I had time I would. I'll pay good money to ensure it's fixed.

You make that. I will but it. Or whatever needs done. I have been thinking about Making control arms to control the caster. Was told that's huge in getting them to go straight.

I've got Rokmen lower control arms and the then one's I originally made still for uppers. This helped big time to fight road crown mostly. I don't think you're going to fix death wobble with caster. I think it'd be more of a bandaid, where you'd give it more 'return to center' force which could counter it. I'm not saying I'm right on this, that's just where my head goes.

I think the issue is keeping your axle centered and letting the drag link do it's thing. I think 90% of that issues comes from track bars being loose or flexing, another 5% to frame flex and alignment, and 5% to other.

If you're going to build a track bar, I get my stuff from RuffStuffSpecialties and have been very happy with everything I've gotten from them. And they're super cheap!

I have an old worn out track bar i just cut half an inch of of and welded back together. I'm going to throw it on tomorrow and see what i think. If it does the trick i have a new one ill cut weld and sleave it.

Just wanted to take a moment and say thank you for sharing this information gentlemen.
I need to work on my suspension once I get my auto swap done.

Just to summarize my opinions on this:

Your best bang for buck on these trucks is to take care of the track bar in one way or another.

That BD lower bearing for your steering gear box was a marginal increase in performance for me.
Adjustable control arms to fix caster was a marginal improvement for me.
Having tight ball joints, drag link, and tie rods played a big role.
Setting Toe-in correctly is always important.
Stiffer springs helped with control at higher speeds and corners, but definitely hurt ride quality a lot.
Make sure your sway bar is hooked up, and the end links aren't all worn out (that helps cornering and helps fight death wobble a little).
Balance your damn tires!
I have cheap shocks (can't justify QA1's), but having ones that actually work and aren't empty cylinders makes a big difference.

In a bind, while towing and having death wobble on the road, I lowered my front tire psi about 10psi and it went away. Replaced the track bar heim when I got home, aired back up, and it was fixed.
I've also fixed it when I was broke and in college by putting a shock in between the track bar and drag link. It worked surprisingly well.
These are both bandaids though. Obviously.

Good luck guys!

What's the best 60 you have cut

1.43... 2 years ago LOL. If I could get this death wobble fixed i am ready to plant a good 60 and really lay down some good times I feel. Hopefully it will be addressed this year. All my 60's are 1.50-1.53.

Bumping this back up truck is about to go to the alignment shop. Anything i should have them do while its there? Also any input on how i should set the shocks up would be nice. Double adjustable in the back gutted bed caltracs and 2 springs. The front has single adjustables. Thanka in advance.

my truck

rear
afco coil overs at 6 degrees
3 leaf springs with 2" drop shackles
cal tracs middle hole

front
lowering coils
viking shocks
hell bent control arms
red head gear box
09.5+ steering
NO stabilizer
heim joint track bar

leaves at 32 lbs and doesnt spin and this year it is getting afco coil overs up front and see how that goes.

Cut coils or does someone make them?

What does it cut 60 foot
Seems like that rear suspension would be really stiff with that many leaves left
