Slowly lost 4th and 3rd gear with a flair between 2-3 shift.

Fluid is full, have not been towing, it's been a week since I was last hot rodding it. I was cruising and noticed it took longer to up shift each gear. Then on my way home from town of start fading in and out. Lockup switch quit working also.
The temp has not been over 210 and rarely gets over 190. I have a gauge in the hot line coming from the trans. I do have a pot instead of a tps , a resistor instead of a trans temp switch

I have not done a pressure test or dropped the pan yet

Line pressure was tested at 175 at wot last year

30k on rebuild with tfod hd2, billet single with a block instead of a damper spring,

Pi billet input , tcs output, stock type rebuild kit.

Anybody want to take a guess what happened ?

Kinda sounds like something got smoked and the filter plugged. No line pressure gauge in cab?

I've though about hooking one up before. I will after I figure out what the problem is. I'll be pulling the truck into the shop tonight and dropping the pan.

I had this happen the other day when towing another truck up some big mountain passes and it was caused by me manually shifting from 2nd to drive and going just a touch too far where it was halfway bumping into neutral.

I'd check your detents and make sure the tranny is fully in drive when the column is fully in drive and hopefully you haven't burned up the tranny yet if it is a detent issue. FYI, mine would not lock either despite the lockup switch and luckily it took me just a few times dropping in and out of gear to figure out what was going on.

Your results may vary...

And another. This one shows the little bit of aluminum. The magnet looks typical maybe a tad more than I want to see. I haven't changed the filter since the fall.

I'm going to crank the line pressure screw another turn or 2 since I'm in there, thick the detent, vb torx bolts , boost tube, shift valve covers. I had one come loose before and burn up my my trans after I put a shift kit the first time

I was hoping to kill the trans with a new turbo and then rebuild and get a looser tc. Could a seal in one of the drums cause this ? I used the fatter seal in the direct drum for the piston

I looked at the filter under a light. It was full of little chunks, I have a drain plug in my pan it must have let most of the little dark debris out. The top and bottom of the filter are covered. 12vftw called it

I was hopeful when I saw the front band was a little loose .

These exedy clutches lasted longer than I expected. Many launches, outlasted my stock output and a single disc that got ballooned. Hopefully the tranny cooler and Tc aren't full of garbage.

Forward clutches and steels looked good. Direct drum steels have hot spots and are a little warped, clutches look thinner
