flush coolant system, what is the best procedure?

I would like to flush my coolant system before I do the egr delete and new oil cooler... what is the best method? And what antifreeze do you recommend putting back in? While it has been leaking from the EGR I have been just using prestone 50 50 mix,, is this good? (I am putting on a coolant filter kit from sinister)

Flush it and run the coolant filter for at least a month. Trust me. My oil cooler is starting to be a pain again (did a full chemical flush, replacement oil cooler, and coolant filter) and it's annoying as hell.

I just used Ford gold. I have had 0 issues with it, and I have not known anyone else to, either. Maintenance is key; idiots who do not maintain their coolant/system, will have issues and b!tch.

Here's some info that might help you, Kevin:

I've also used Motorcraft Gold without issue, but a lot of people won't touch it and prefer to use a non-silicate ELC. Personally, I don't think silicate drop-out from the Motorcraft Gold is a problem in a well maintained cooling system, though a lot of people would argue that point. As long as your choice of coolant is compatible with the Ford spec you'll be fine.

I believe the silica drop out in stock type engines is mostly due to the coolant being superheated or flash boiled in the egr cooler immediately before going into the oil cooler.

Right now my truck has 2 issues. The egr is leaking antifreeze fairly bad down the back of the engine making a mess. And when I am towing heavy and I push the speed a bit or hit a big hill the engine will overheat pretty quickly. If I keep the speed down to 105 or 110 it is fine. EGT's are totally fine, it takes actual work to get them to hit even close to 1400. My oil cooler is good, the delta is well within range, but I am going to change it anyways when I do the egr delete. My theory is that the rad is slightly blocked causing my overheating problem

Get rid of that EGR and you should be good to go.

Question for you folks promoting Ford Gold.
Who built this engine?
What coolant do THEY recommend?
I can tell you its NOT Ford Gold or silicate coolant. Cut a oil cooler in half FROM A FORD and see whats in there. Then cut a cooler in half from a International and compare. You will change your tune. Then decide....

What coolant is International using? I am seriously thinking that I am going to use prestone,,, cant see why this wouldn't be a good choice, unless someone can tell me why

Any ELC SILICATE FREE coolant is fine. I service 3 fleets of 6.0 trucks and after we get the flush and coolant change done with the coolant filter and ELC coolant we dont see them plug up any more oil coolers.
Gold may work if you change it every year or 25-50k miles but that is ridiculous.
Im not Grayson IF I was who you were referring to.
