is it true the 6 speed comes stock with 275hp and the auto is 235hp, whats the difference making that. i also read about conveting to a p pump and ridding the electronics and going mechanical. is 800hp more practical converting to mechanical.

tuning, if you don't know anything about the 7.3 i suggest you just sit back for the next year and start reading up on everything and try to learn more about the 7.3 and you will see the kind of money and time and effort it will take to get 500hp let alone 800hp.
For 450ish your looking at...
Built tranny - 4000ish
Mini Me Injectors - 2000$ish
GTP38R Garrett Turbo - 1800$??
Intake - 200$ish
Exhaust - 300$ish
Good tuned chip 400$ish
Gauges - 300ish
Mini Me's will run fine on the stock HPOP i've heard, but you can always swap in Dual Hpops and that will bump up the power.
how ever much the conversion kit for the early 99 to late 99 style kit is.
Might need valve springs and push rods??
This is just a quick guesstimate and just a quick guide. Anything over 500hp is kinda iffy on a stock forged bottom end of 7.3
My suggestion is either buy a cummins and swap that in or join powerstrokenation.com and start reading up heavily.

i looked on ts performance site and it shows a 75 hp. chip for a early 99 with a stick. so if stock power is 275 on a stick, i should be at 350. so with a intake and straight pipe stacks should that get me to or over 400hp. or am i missing somthing. aside from a clutch and pressure plate i have read that it can handle alot.

275 at the crank is less than 200 to the tire. Intakes and exhausts dont gain much at all....

You have lots to learn grasshoppa....

If you take your supposed HP at the crank and deduct 17% for a 2wd auto and about 21-24% for 4x4 and thats what HP you got on the ground.
A stock 7.3 with exhaust, drop in filter(AFE) and a good program/chip will make you around 300Hp on the ground.
Now having said that... each truck is different so while one person might be making 300hp with that set-up you might only make 270hp.
And judt because some add on says you get a gain of 15Hp doesnt mean that you can add up all the numbers that you see on the box and say "Thats what Im doin!"
I dont work that way.. Sorry to shoot your horse.

AND please dont come here with some crayon drawn dyno graph...Thats about the fastest way to get flamed.

ALL BS aside, why do you feel the need for 800hp?

I have a 611hp gasser in a half ton chevy truck and it is almost undriveable with ZERO traction.

My 2000 F350 w/ stock AD injectors (235hp) put 185hp to the wheels. Then after intake and exhaust I was at 197hp. Mild chip 278hp only cost about $1,000 in 1999. Quite a price jump to bring it to 600 then another big leap to 800.

I don't think I need 800hp, it's just a number that sounded good. Really if I could pull just 500-600 I'm sure a 2wd reg cab shortbed would feel good even under 600hp. What's needed for 500-600. I figure atleast shoot high, and when I hear costs then I back down a little.

Gauges $300
Water Injection $500

I had about $7000 to make 430hp live in the stroke. Gave it up and built my current 12v setup. First go around 600ish, then 1111 on a single 66mm with a $15,000 budget for the whole truck. Then twins another $5K and more nitrous 1312 hp, then 13mm pump more nitrous and more expensive chit about $10K to 1374 hp, this found the limits of a few things. Over the years you can grow into the cummins and make 1000hp for the same price as 400hp on a stroke. I LOVE MY 12 VALVE! Thats my advise!

your rods will be fine sense its a 99..also go with a d66 turbo so you wont have to convert anything..id start with custom tunes(php,dp tuner, tony wildman),trans upgrade, atleast stage 2 injectors(roosewood, swamps, beans are all good) and then the most cost offective turbo is the d66 wich you should be at 400 hp no problem..dont listin to alderguy cause hes a cummins boy haha

Stick with your motor. For now. Go buy a chip, intake and exhaust. You can upgrade a few of the chips by getting reburns but you might need to know what you want upgraded first.

Anyway a cummins conversion is going to cost you a ridiculous amount just in getting a motor and installation. Unless you fab everything yourself and do all the work yourself. Fk that. If you want a cummins buy that POS dodge its wrapped in.

You guys ever chipped a AB injector truck? Smaller injectors, smaller HPOP, smaller turbo, smaller intakes on the head. They do not respond well to electronics I dont care who's tunes they are. Its not like he has a 00 to 03 with all the bigger stuff that when chipped its actually a big difference.

Hell, drop a CR in there, and with just a Smarty your damn near at 500.

$795-Adaptor plate-Cummins to ZF6
$120-Cranks spacer
$265-Engine mounts
$400-Tach kit
$3-5000(?)-CR engine
$685-Smarty

Theres $53-7500 for the basics. Guaranteed theres other little small parts, so call it $10k and youll easily have a good, reliable, PROVEN platform thatll hold power. Add another $3-4k and you can have 600hp easily

The V10 was a auto? And the 7.3l is a 6spd? That may be part of the Slow feeling.. Hard to beat the accel of an auto with a manual

I had a '99 F250 Ex-cab 6spd 4x4 that with a Chip, 5" Straight Pipe, and DIY Intake I was sittin at 300hp to the wheels

450rwhp in your truck will run low 13's if you can shift and you'll spend around 6000.00.
