Rebirth of the 12v racetruck

cecildiesel

Underfunded
Hey guys so im new to this forum but not new to diesels.
Im looking to get tearing back into my 12v cummins and make some more power with it.

The combo i was running is 2nd gen 4wd single cab long bed. Ran a 12.3 :tree:with small spray hard low end but kinda fell flat on top end.

Engine is 12v 95 year p pump
Fuel
5x18 injectors
Air dog pump
Full cut delivery valves
No plate
5k gov springs

Engine
Fire ring heads.
Hamilton valve springs
28* timing

Turbos
S300 over a s475 t4 to a t3 ats 3 piece manifold

Trans
Billet output
Billet input
Billet intermediate
Suncoast converter
Dual disk clutches
Etc etc built with goerend parts from Browns diesel

So i blew cyl 6 last year and just now getting to it.
My plan is to rebuild it but im on a budget.
Its out of the truck and waiting on me

What should i do to try to hit the 850-950hp mark
Right now this engine dynod 670 on fuel with no spray.

What should i add or change to get to my mark?
I know turbos but what combo? And should i beefen up the bottom end? Can i achieve the hp with this 12mm pump or qill i need a 13mm?

Thanks for any input

You can keep your fuel setup and run a S369 Manifold turbo (73mm turbine wheel in a 1.0 T4 housing) (with an external gate to keep drive pressure down) with an S483 (96mm turbine wheel in 1.32 T6 housing) and have well enough air to reach your horsepower goal.
It will be underfueled for the time being, but give you plenty of room to grow into a 13mm pump if desired.

As DDually said, a good pump calibration would probably help and then you know for sure what have. As far as the turbos, I might go with a 64/74/14 over a S480 or S483. A decent billet wheel/race cover 480 would get you there and light a little better than a 483.

Welcome to Comp D.

A few questions:
- how did you blow the 6th cylinder?
- who is doing the work?

I would consult with Browns Diesel; they know a thing or 2 about 12 valves, and can get you where you want to be pretty easily.
