I also got the battery shutoff switch mounted and tied in. Its from Flaming River. The rod that came with it wasn’t quite long enough, so I have to modify that a touch. But you get the idea...

And one more thing, I forgot to post a pic but here you can see the aluminum lower radiator pipe I got from Adam at A2. It turned out really good and fitment was spot on.

Again, not a big update, but seeing as I now have 3 of these trucks I have started to accumulate some necessary spares. I got this motor (stock 5.9) as a go to hell spare, but if nothing happens where I absolutely need it, I’ll be getting it freshened up with a good set of rods to throw in this truck so that it can actually be turned up.

So ever since the staging limiter install I’ve had torque management issues (tuning related, not due to the switch). We got the truck staging how it should, but afterwards the 60’ started to suffer. I was leaving on boost, but my 60’ was staying in the mid 1.6 range… which isnt terrible… but due to the weak 60’ I slowed down to mid 6.8x passes. If I could get the 60’ back, I’d be back in the 6.7x range where I want to be.

Ryan did some tweaking for me, and we got the truck back where I want it. Staging limiter is working flawlessly, and the 60’ is back where I want it.

I finally got back to the track and on the same tune (tune 3) my first pass did a 1.55 60’ and ran a 6.77 at 104. The next pass out I waited for the temps to cool down a little, and I finally got what I wanted. 1.51 60’ and went 6.70 at 104.

Also, to add to this, all of this took place after an hour drive to and from a car show (where the truck took Best in Show Street Truck!!

Video to come!

So we made it out to Rudy’s and here is how everything went…

We got a tnt pass in Friday night, the truck spun just a tad on the hit, and the times went as posted below.

Saturday we were able to go into the two rounds of qualifying and this is how they went:

Later that night I went into the first round of eliminations unfortunately paired up with Ken Phillips (points leader). I kicked the tires just a touch on the hit, and then my intermittent miss showed back up and slowed me down a tad.

I was pumped with the win! I couldn’t believe I was able to take him out. Unfortunately the rain set in and the event was a washout, but the purse got split so I was able to cover fuel cost for the trip, which was a plus.

I’m about 90% sure at this point that the missing issue I’ve had is related to the cam/crank sensors. I ordered new ones, but they were on back order and didn’t show up until after we had already left for the event (of course).

Anyways, the full event coverage on my truck, as well as others, are in the link below.

So, the whole purpose of this build thread was to do a write up on the process of building this truck, and document the changes. I’ll still be updating as changes get made, but as of now all efforts are being focused to the race truck.

This past weekend was Diesel Truck Wars in NC. I decided to double down and put the truck in 6.70 AND E.T., with hopes of making it at least into the semis in one class, as the payout would have paid for the whole day.

6.70 ended up having 27 trucks, and I made it into the finals, but lost due to my RT.

E.T. Had over 50 trucks, and at the end of the night I was able to pull out the win on a 6.70 dial.

In the end, the truck got hot lapped idk how many passes. I think we are knocking on the doors of around 100 6 second passes on this 187k mile stock bottom end. Huge shoutout to everyone who has helped in any way with the truck, and there will be more to come with it eventually.

An event recap with pass by pass breakdown will be on YouTube soon and I’ll be sure to share the link here.

Just a quick update on the truck, as I know it’s been a while. Over the off-season we sent the converter out to get it checked over. Everything looked fine, but we had some updates installed in the converter (this is the first converter ever set up for the solid input). While the trans was out we went ahead and looked over the front half of the trans. Everything looked great. A very small amount of wear could be seen on the band, clutches still look new. No trash to even speak of in the pan… this is over 100 passes at 6800ish lbs around 1000hp. Couldn’t be happier.

This year started off with a bang, we went to diesel truck wars in NC for the first event of the year and was able to pull out the win in 6.70 index with a 6.74 to 6.74 final.
