block pitting

I am rebuilding a 12v motor. I have finally rounded up everything to get the motor back together. I got to cleaning the block up this last weekend and noticed alot of pitting on the top of the block towards the head. I was wondering how much pitting would have to be present to warrant it neccesary to mill the top of the block back true. That corner of the block is pretty rough with maybe an 1/8" deep pitting. The head i am building will be fire ringed for the twins i am going to run. I just don't want to blow the head gasket racing around.

Are you just having the fire rings cut in the head? I would do the block and head if it were me.

You can run the thicker headgasket to make up for the amount removed from the block.
