911 ecodiesel wont start this morning

My father and I picked up a 2015 ecodiesel in Michigan yesterday and drove it to twin cities Minnesota. Along the way we shut the truck off once to eat dinner. We made it to the hotel with no issues and we come out to start the truck and no start. Turn the lights on to see if they dim when I try to start it and they do not dim.

Truck is a 2015 ecodiesel with ~13,300 miles

*Truck did have the engine replaced due to low oil pressure failure. I would guess roughly 1,500 miles on the new engine.

0 messages in the dash menu. Only light I see is a oil pressure looking light on located where the open door light is in the lower left of the screen.

Any ideas?

Already contacted the dealer we bought it from and they are talking to a local dodge dealer to figure it out.

I had that once with my truck, took the battery out of the remote and reinstalled it and it worked. I promptly bought a new battery for the remote and have never had an issue with it since. Everything will light up but it will not crank.

Did you check it for codes yet?

If it's going to be covered, I'd let them take care of it. Especially since it's like -20F in the MSP area today!
If not, i'd start troubleshooting the ignition. It definitely does something when you turn the key to on, just nothing when you turn to start it? Maybe turn it in the on position and jump the starter relay to see if it'll start and run?

I forgot these were fancy push buttons!

Did the dash and everything else come on when the button was pushed? Cluster never said push brake to start or anything?

Mine is not a push button, still takes the end of the "key" in the slot in the dash, but mine is a tradesman, the "fancy" models have the push button.

If it was -20 where you were they used to have issues with the DEF freezing and causing no start issues or limp mode issues. There is a dealer flash for this that keeps the DEF heater running when truck is off when it sees ambient temp is below 0 if I remember correctly.

Try the remote battery, if that doesn't work let the dealer figure it out.

Sorry for the delay guys. I had meetings I had to get to up north so I told the dealer to take care of it and come get it. Took a whole day for them to pick it up and almost all day today for them just to get on it. Ended up being wire corrosion on a started wire.

I appreciate the suggestions and help!!

Corrosion after only a year or so seems bad... Was it a flood damaged truck???

Nope not a flood truck. A person at the dealer thought it would be due to the weather conditions and such but I dont know how that would have anything to do with it.

It sure was a cold one haha oddly enough that was not a single code the dealer could find

Because I can't edit the OP I figured I would group the updates right here

**UPDATE #1 **Ended up getting the issue fixed, it was due to wire corrosion on the starter. Im not sure what cause it but the dealer claimed it is due to the weather in MI and MN with the salt and cold weather. I think thats crap but I'm no electrical expert.

**UPDATE #2 **

So after I got the truck back from the dealer I went to my hotel to get some rest before the trip back home in the morning. I get out to the truck around 5am and go to start the truck and same exact issues happen where it wont start to crank so I can the dealer and tell them yo pick it up. They get it an hour later and work on it for a bit come to find the some starter relay had somehow moved and popped out of place. So just for a easy fix we had them replace the relay and I drove the truck 13 hours without shutting it off just in case. The truck has been sitting for about 10 hours now outside so we will see if it will start.

hmmm. My business partner just put his eco diesel for sale on a lot in Michigan that recently had the engine replaced from thrust bearing failure. Pretty sure his had closer to 30k on it, though.

Seems these engines are less than robust.

What color was it?

All I heard is that this one failed due to low oil pressure

That's good info on the frozen DEF dealer fix. We've had right at 0 degree weather here for a brief minute the past few days. If mine is a 2016, should mine have this flash already? I bought it new in September of 2016 if that helps at all.

Yours should have it, and it takes quite a while to freeze the DEF, not a flash cold spell but prolonged cold. The flash came out in 2015 for the 2014 and 2015 trucks.
