2.6 Puller Project

Here is my project i started in January.
Well after having the truck about 3 years, and it being a daily driver for about a month. Then i had a great idea to pull it apart and put a set of twins on it. They lasted about a week or two and i was bored with them. I took them off and sold them and the truck just sat in the garage and got neglected due to my 04.5 that i had.
I ended up moving to a different shop, where it had to sit out side and collect rust.
When i moved into my current shop I'm in now it sat in the back of the shop and collected dust.
At this point i decided i wanted to make a 2.6 truck and keep the budget to a minimum as i have never pulled before and was not sure how i would like it.

Anyway, some specs of the truck starting the build
97 2500 CCLB
24v p-pump w/180 pump
NV4500
SB Dual Disk Clutch
241DLD
60/80 with 3.55's

Here is the truck when i bought it

The truck was rust free, until sitting outside in the grass for 9 months or so.
The rust got the best of me, So i found a cab that was rust free and 5 mins from my house for a steal.
so i decided to swap the cab out for the rust free one.

Started the tear down.

So with tearing it all down and rebuilding everything, I ran out of funds for doing the body work and paint for the new cab. That was the whole point of the tear down but i figured that can be done next winter(or now this coming winter) so it has the old rusted out cab back on it. i gave my self a dead line to have this thing ready to hook in at the end of April at a small pull not far from home. I was running out of time and energy.

got the rear bumper and hitch and all back on.

another engine bay pic, not quite done yet, working on fan wiring

Click the image to open in full size.

Now i have to get it down to a scale and figure out how much she weighs so i know how much weight i need to add or remove

Click the image to open in full size.

With the hood, ladder bars, and front bumper not installed yet it weighed in at 6750 IIRC
We brought it back to the shop and got to fabricating a weight bar bracket for the front. All i could get my hands on were 13 80# Ford tractor weights.

Started building the ladder bars/brackets

Ok to get caught up on build specs
180 pump by Seth did 540cc
188/220 hamiltion cam w/bolt on retainer
Hamiltion valve spring & pushrods
Stainless t-4 mani
s475 2.6 charger from Chris@ED
ARP Head studs
pusher intake
spearco intercooler
Valiar tripple disk weighted clutch
and some other small parts here and there.

Made it to the first pull on time in April and did 275. my first time ever pulling.
They made me re pull due to sled malfunction?
so i re pulled at 230 or somewhere about there i forget.
all and all i was happy it went down the track and i had no issues. but it needed more fuel & timing.
So i adjusted timing some and played with the pump a little.

Got bored and made a hood stack for it.

Click the image to open in full size.

Click the image to open in full size.

Click the image to open in full size.

Click the image to open in full size.

Then it was time to go pull at Numida and well most of you guys know that got rained out and some of us went to Lycoming fair to make a hook. it did much better that time but still needed more fuel
i put bigger injectors in and pulled at the huntingdon county fair. got 2nd place with 311?
still not happy.
Found a member on here had a new 13mm pump that changed directions and wanted a smaller pump for street. so i tuned my pump down and shipped it out to him.

cleaned the new 13mm pump up and painted her.

Click the image to open in full size.

Got some down time and moved the hitch in further and started building sled stops.

Working out of town a lot, when i get time at home I will try and get some videos of the pulls.
Still haven't seem to found the sweet spot for fuel and timing with the bigger pump.
not sure what you guys are seeing on the gauges going down the track but i try and come off the line around 4800ish and hold 4200+ down the track. only seeing about 1550 on the EGT gauge and high 30's for boost. checked for boost leaks, cant seem to find any leaks.
All and all i cant complain for the first season and 8-10 hooks i made with it and didn't have any carnage.

I will keep digging for the most recent pics i have of it and continue to update this winters projects which are
put the new rust free cab on and spary the whole truck
put the other motor i have on my stand in it once i finish assembly of it.
A/W intercoolers
runner intake
ditch the 2 piece rear shaft and DLD case and put in the 271 I picked up
I'm sure there is more, but that's about all I can think of at the moment.
