Rod length to stroke ratio. The shorter the rod (at constant stroke), the more lateral force they'll put on the cylinder walls. The longer the rod (at constant stroke), the more you transfer energy instead of pushing on the walls.

I see. Always thought it was strictly cylinder pressure that made them let go. So what exactly is a better option going to a 5.9 bore or D&Js set up to make one live at high power levels?
