Making it 'my own'... (recent 12V purchase)

I apologize in advance for the noobie thread as I know these threads pop up frequently, but everyone I've looked at or a search has yielded me seem to be a few years old...

I recently picked up my first Cummins in the form of a '97 2500 4x4 Laramie SLT with 100,000 miles and the owner had good amount of work done to it from the days when he used to sled pull (6+ years ago) and I wanted to get your guys' thoughts on the current engine upgrades he mentioned...

HX40 (pulling turbo was removed)
4,000 GSK
P Pump w/ work from EEP (not sure of the extent)
Cut DV
No fuel plate
Marine Cam
215hp factory injectors (at least I'm told... he pulled with the 370hp injectors)

I have two questions:

1.) What kind of horsepower do you think this setup would have?

2.) In your opinion, what would be the best direction to go to update some of these performance parts? My goal is to have a low-mid 600hp truck...

Thank you for your help, as I'm still learning!

Even though the threads may be a few years old, you do have a 17 year old truck...some of the info may still be valid. Looking in this thread would be a good start to give you a direction:

Pretty much all of the info...

If you want 600 on an old pulling engine all you need is 5x12 injectors and a 64/71.

Thanks for the input! I was thinking a 64 or 66 would do it...

I daily drive it but I'd like to pull it about 5-6 times a year locally. Being so close to EEP (5 minutes) there is A LOT of competition in my area. As far as driving, I live in the country but work in a small city... I'm not too worried about smoking and don't really mind the lag.

I'll take a look at those injectors and I'm definitely looking into more air.

Once again, I appreciate everyone's help!
