Stack with compounds ??

I have a single cab with compound turbos and the exhaust is dumped over the axle right now. Almost doesn’t even sound like it’s straight pipes, it is very quiet. Thinking about switching to a stack but have heard many people say it’s too loud for daily driving a single cab with a stack. Anyone run a stack with compounds and daily drive the truck? I like loud but I don’t want to be deaf after driving around town for 20 min.

My 01 has twins and stacks in the bed. Drone was horrible and i had to put a straight through muffler on it. Was pretty loud also till the Aero-turbine muffler was installed. could tolerate it just driving but hook a trailer to it and it would give you a migraine.

Agree with this. Mine is as well, the valve rattling is louder than the actual exhaust sound

very recently on a single turbo 12 valve my buddy put dual stacks in his truck. it was deafening, he installed a fancy spiral muffler thingy, still deafening. he no longer has stacks.

last year has some towing compounds on a 95 with an axle dump and it sounded like a gasser. wanted to make it look cool so I put dual 5 inch stack in the bed and it made the truck awful to drive. couldn't hear the radio kind thing.

had a 2001 with dual 6's that was bone stock. it was loud but sounded very good and was tolerable.

Does putting the stack an inch or so above the cab vs below the top of the cab make any difference in the sound inside the cab?

Matters what stack you go with too, when mine was single turbo with bull haulers it wasn't really loud at all in the cab, they pointed the sound behind you.

I had a single 6" about level with the cab with compounds. It wasn't bad, no real drone or anything. Biggest problem I had was soot got on everything, especially after a rain.

What size were they? I towed my 5th wheel 2500mi with mine and it didnt seem bad at all.
