allison tranny swap

I was looking at destroked.com
and they have an adapter plate for an allison swap

Im nearing time for a rebuild

and I figure 6 gears would help my mpg

what are yous guyses thoughts

plus I hear the allison is the best tranny out there but I still plan on doing gears, gauges, anew turbo, and a set of injectors for now

it is a decent trans after you spend 4500 on a built one , and then don't forget to figure in the 1600.00 bucks for a controler

Personally i would just spend the money on a BTS and call it good.
The cost out ways the gain on the Allison conversion.

Get BTS or Suncoast.
Im not gonna give a testimonial or anything because I havent lab tested every single tranny out there. BUT, From what I hear they are not the strongest. Actually, No stock tranny is the strongest. . Just buy a built one. Some say the 4r100 is one of the top stockers. I havent had any trouble. Course I dont put over 100 RWHP usually. Haul all the time, and never had even a suspicious noise.

I have read that with this swap my truck would get 25 mpg
do think that would be true
this would be the main reason for the swap
if it would help fuel economy that much Im open to it
when my tranny dies

you can buy alot of fuel for the 10 grand or so it would cost to swap.
I would look into a gearvendor overdrive unit.

Yeah, no powerstroke will make 25 mpg...regardless of what the owner says.

I would go with what everyone else is saying, go with a BTS, Suncoast, etc....if you spend the same money you still won't have to make it fit. And it will be stronger than the stock Allison.
