Um... no.
14mm now has 9xx on spray, 690ish on fuel. 12mm around 500-550.
Glad someone did this! Did you advance timing by jumping the gear 1 tooth?

3200 is about it for a VE.
I thought the A pump mounted the same as the P. I know guys with the A pumps on DT466s that have swapped to P's.

And they are perfect for high rpm because of the linear fueling curve. Ultra high injection pressure too for a clean burn with large injectors.

about what are the limits of injector size it could handle? I've been thinking about this swap as I'm not looking to go crazy horsepower but still want the mechanical injection

After having several of the 12mm ends come off the VP lines, we started looking for a simple easy solution.
Mark Nixon seemed to have decent results with the helicoil/lugnut/torch method, but I was looking for something a little slicker.
Timesert thread inserts. http://www.timesert.com/index.html
No one could tell us what the outer thread was for a 12mm 1.5 insert, so we ordered some off ebay. Just so happens they are 14mm 1.5. Threads right in the line, threads right on the pump. Done deal, quick, easy, cheap.

the 6 cylinder VE in my old BMW fueled to 5200 from the factory, although it has much smaller internals (8mm head IIRC) and a completely different governor

Makes for a nice driver as we figured, snappy and starts well. Would like to see a bit better mileage, but we haven't adjusted a danged thing since we bolted it together. Need to make time to fiddle with it.

I'm pretty tempted to try it myself, I'm sure not impressed with the drive-ability of the P... as you mentioned.

The ones we used were too long, we had to cut them down, I'll order shorter ones next time. Thread them in the line nut, and thread the nut on the pump.
