Dual Steering Stabilizer
INSTALL

2004 Dodge Ram 2500 HD 4x4
Cummins TurboDiesel

The kit basically is a pair of Fox 2.0 Steering Stabilizers mounted to a
Defiant Truck Products Gusset Reinforced Differential Guard

This install article is only for reference. Do not use it as directions
to install your kit. Only use the instructions provided with the kit
from Carli Suspensions.

The first step is to block the rear wheels, apply the emergency brake and
chock the wheels.

Remove the stock stabilizer. To break the tapered shaft loose,
I loosened the nut enough to be flush with the top of the threaded
portion. Gave it a few sharp raps with a heavy mallet.

The skid plate mounts onto the front of the pumpkin using (7) longer differential cover screws. Check your differential cover for damage at the bottom lip. It is important that it is a perfect rolled factory edge as the skid plate has a groove machined in it to clear the lip. I used an oil based red primer on the weld beads as added protection against corrosion on the inside where dirt and water lies.

Torque to factory specifications.

Note there are two different size stabilizer mounting plate clamps supplied with the kit.
Install the drivers side stabilizer mounting plate first using (2) 1-1/8" clamps.
Be sure the offset hole tab is inboard.

Turn the wheel all the way to the LEFT as if making a left turn.
Install a stabilizer shock BODY first at the just installed mounting plate using the supplied
hardware in the sequence listed in the supplied directions.

Install the shaft end of the shock into the middle hole of the skid plate using the supplied
hardware in the sequence listed in the supplied directions.

Turn the wheels all the way to the RIGHT as if making a sharp right turn.
Attach the shaft end of the second shock into the drivers side hole in the skid plate
(the passenger side hole in the skid plate is left unused.

Install the passenger side stabilizer mounting plate first using (2)1-1/4" clamps.
Be sure the offset hole tab is inboard. Align the mounting plate along the tie rod to mate
with the stabilizer shock. Install supplied
harware in the sequence listed in the supplied directions.

Align the system horizontally and tighten the fasteners per supplied torque settings.
