What is this hole?

Got engine rebuilt and in the truck, mated to tranny.

Got all my wiring mapped out (any pics if wiring routine g would be useful). I got all my extra things figured out (turbo oil drain, oil dipstick, breather tube, etc).

I can't figure this one out. I think it sits behind the computer on the driver side.

It may have just had a freeze plug, I punched them all out. It's got a helicoil in one of the bolt holes, so I'm assuming it was mated to something previously. I've either lost it or something.

Thanks.

PS, does the big breather tube just run down engine block and vent to the open air? Click the image to open in full size.Click the image to open in full size.

That is for the crank sensor on a VP truck. Is it a CR block or VP?

If its a CR block just put a freeze plug back in it.

There is supposed to be a core plug in that larger hole, originally.
The insert in the threaded hole is supposed to be there, it's where one of the ECM plate bolts screws in, so no worries there, either.

On some applications, the big hole is covered by an oil filler neck, but not on any Dodge application I have seen.

Like a tractor or something else?

I remember the older 5.9s had a big filler cap but think that was in the gear housing on the front.

Mostly heavy and industrial equipment.
I had a 4.5 QSB 4 cylinder, from a chipper, that had a filler neck there and I know I have seen some 6 cylinder stuff with them, as well.

Go poke around on Ebay, there's plenty of different engines with different arrangements on there.
