BW vs Holset housings

BW 96/88 turbine housings are A/R 1.15 , 1.32 , 1.45 and 1.58 , are they comparable to Holset 97/86 turbine housings A 27 , 32 , 36 and 40 in flow capability ?

And what are comparable Garrett GT 47 housings ?

Would be better to compare GT50 housings as GT47 comperes with 92mm BW turbine.

While it would be nice to know what all manufacturer specific housings there are for the GT50 I doubt that anyone has a compilation of all those numbers.

Since the newer BW housings have CM identifiers on them I think it is the 1.58 that lines up with a 36cm, so 40 would be similar to a 1.65.

GT50 turbine flows about same as Holsets 97/92 which is much more than any S400 turbine, except Joses new aftermarket turbine for S400.

Didnt know about BW cm ratings, thanks for that.

I have flow values for the S400 turbine converted from Phi to lb/min supplied by Borg Warner, you may be surprised what the S400 turbine is capable of.

Matchbot says 96 turbine with 1.65 housing flows about 54 lb/min. I have been told that GT50 with small 1.08 housing flows 58 lb/min.

Turbine flows usually more the faster it spins, are those flow numbers given at max recommended shaft rpm or how ?

How do you go about calculating an engines exhaust flow?

All I could find was in a Donaldson catalog.

Aren’t those aftermarket GT50 housings single entry?

Would have to look to OEM to get an actual comparable divided housing, I’m almost certain there is a 1.41 internally gated cat specific housing, probably some that are even larger beyond that as well.

I have gated 1.41 from Detroit Diesel. Volvo 1.24 GT47 housing was machined in place of it, because Volvo and Scania housings are smaller like HX60 housings.

Could it be possible that Holset housings have also A/R number, or do those numbers just happen to match sometimes ?
I have these : 26 128 (or maybe 129) , 40 164 ?

But then there is 32 129 and 36 129 , also 32 164, then also 40 129 from H3B I think ? Maybe different R for different applications to match gas velocity to tip speed ?

Naah, I dont think it goes like that, 129 and 164 seems to be common numbers even in smaller Holsets.
