Torquezillion, a Camping World Truck built for Pikes Peak
We began this project last fall to attack Pikes Peak and set a diesel record. We've been cataloguing the build on our social media pages, but have yet to start a forum build thread.
The concept:
The entire body is being replicated from carbon fiber, which will reduce overall weight by around 400lbs. Currently, with the 6.7L and 48RE, it sits at 3,066lbs.
Hood mould:
Front airdam mould:
Somehow, the 6.7L fits, even with the stupid pcv filter.
We chose Garrett GTX4294 over a GTX5018 turbo setup, so they would actually light at 14,000ft.
And next, the oiling. Due to the G forces the truck will be subjected to, and also to lower the driveline by eight inches, we opted for a drysump setup.
However, Pikes Peak recently denied entry, but we will continue the build and have several other events planned over the summer.
I'll check in with more progress, thanks for looking!

We weren't given a reason other than "limited entries". It's horse****. Oh well, we continue forward. Due to its low weight, it should run single digits if we can hook, lol.

We wanted to try a shorter version. Also, it's very lightweight, which is important on this build.

Since this truck turns and slows rapidly and has 1000 hp; will you be using lockup? If so how are you handling down shifts with the trans?

Figured something computer controlled. my question was around lockup, will you be using it?
locking and unlocking take time to accomplish. down shifting while locked can destroy parts very quickly. curious how you plan to make that reliable

Program in a time delay to accommodate for lock/unlock. I realize this won't be sequential-shifting fast, but nothing sequential out there will hold the torque, at least anywhere near the cost. Compromise all around, such is life.

So you'd kinda have two command sent to the trans at once? unlock, lock + down shift to get them synced. Can you get the trans controller to match rpm's?
and my next question was which sequential boxes have you looked at. the one from LG motorsports for a corvette is 28,000!

We will have to play with it. We are a month out minimum from running, so we have time. I haven't even looked at the software yet, so we will be limited by whatever is in there.
And yes. Our sister car to this is running an Albins gearbox. $32k all in.
