Just saying hello

ELRshooter

Applied ballistics TD
Hey everyone my name is chase Stroud. I'm an instructor with applied ballistics training division and professional extreme long range shooter. I teach everyone from new shooters to my fellow competitors how to maximize their precision or competition rifle. We shoot out past 3 miles in some courses. Diesel has always been a hobby of mine and I have been running around with 800+ rwhp in my mega cab the last few years and recently broke my crank shaft at #5. So now is the time to get a little more serious so I ordered a D&J performance 6.7 to replace the factory motor. I have a warhorse 1000 from dallas Penn, dynomite diesel super mental injectors, 12mm cp3, and a forced inductions 476/94 turbo. Motor will be here end of next week. Just curious if anyone has made reliable 1100ish hp in a 68 rfe to daily. I will keep it detuned for daily stuff but if someone wants to roll on the streets I can go to tune 5 and go for it. Looking forward to learning all I can. Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum.
Reliable and 68rfe dont go in the same sentence. You are to the point where a 48re swap is the best decision.

Thanks for the feedback. If this new modified sonnex drum doesnt hold, Ill prob get a muldoons 48 rfmvb. Just trying to help dallas do some r&d on his 68 for now but things either are or arent. If it doesnt work, we upgrade

1-4 won't be an issue to hold the power. It's 5 and 6 where you will hurt it. Interstate rolls... etc.

68's are still junk for making power, but they have came a long ways in the past couple of years.

yessir no doubt. This is the same trans that Dallas made 1600 with but thats a dyno. Im about 3k lbs heavier and will make a lot more miles than his race truck. We shall certainly see if the real world is anything like what is on paper. Again, im a realistic and if this doesnt work i will indeed do a swap if it comes to it!

Sounds like you should check out the long range hunting and shooting thread in the sportsman subcategory of the playground!

I may have to do that. I have several 2300+ yard kills and one over 2700. I have one interesting 1002 yard head shot on my youtube page. Ill sure check it out.

If you do go the 48re route I'd steer away from the fmvb route if it's a daily driver. Just my opinion but I didn't care for mine at all after the fun factor wore off

Definitely post that stuff in there! Dont think we have anyone stretching quite that far, but there's definitely a few who are fairly knowledgeable and far past anything I've done.

Was it just the shifting or something else? I’m debating one myself so I’m curious.
