Trans cooler fitting help

I've searched this on here and everything said the cooler inlet and outlet on the 47rh are 1/4 npt. So I ordered 1/4 npt × -08an fittings. I've tried threading them in with no success. The treads on the stock fittings I pulled out don't seem to match up either. So my question is, is there a chance dodge used a different thread pitch on some of their trans or do I just need to try harder getting them started.....

I'm fairly sure mine were straight thread when I went to an stuff.
I remember reading about 10 threads arguing about it.

I actually when back out after cooling down a bit. I opened the other package and that one goes right in. After looking at the first fitting it apears to be a straight type (orb) fitting. It looks like one of the fittings they sent were wrong!

Measure the thread pitch and diameter and confirm but all I have seen is 1/4 npt.

Every factory threaded 47rh, 47re, and 48re transmission case that I've seen (hundreds of them!!!!) all have 1/4" npt threads for the front hot outlet line and the cooler return line at the rear of the case. Some model years have inverted flare adapters that thread into the case, some have cooler line/quick disconnect fittings, but they all thread into the transmission case itself with 1/4" npt fitting size. Be careful when using 1/4" to -08 JIC/AN style fittings, some brands have fairly small I.D. at the 1/4" NPT end that is more restrictive than the factory fittings so you need to drill them out a little before installation. The stock fittings measure 0.334" ID whereas the typical steel 1/4npt to -08 AN/JIC fitting adapter measures 0.284" ID. If you hit them with an 11/32 drill bit, they work excellent!

Thank you for that info! I'll definitely check the i.d. before I install them.

Solid info. Thank you for clearing the air on this topic.

I’m getting ready to set up an aux cooler and going to be plumbing with AN fittings as well.

I just ran into the same problem recently with my 1/4 npt- 8AN fittings. First set was a cheaper brand that fit super loose and had issues sealing. Bought a set of Fragola's that fit nice and snug...issue solved.

You get what you pay for.
